Perseverance Keep at it, do you have something to work in the interim so that it can take some of the stress off you? To allow your little ones to move in? There's a reason why I buy all my stuff, but to hand make stuff to your specs and needs is always well worth the extra work. I'm actually getting my sewing machine fixed so that I can make some of my own hammies and such. I've tons of stuff, but a lot of it needs repairs. Ferrets are hard on their hammies and such (digging the fleece to make it all comfy is really hard on the products) ciao

You can get a really inexpensive sewing machine at WalMart.

try craigslist for a cheap used one! most people will buy them for one or two projects and never use them again and then they get rid of them cheap because they're taking up space...

As you make each piece, add it to the cages. That way, they get to use it, and you get some encouragement at seeing how much they enjoy it You can always do the whole set in the cage once it's all done

ME! Oh wait, um you? I can sympathize. I hate sewing. I think I am getting the hang of a sewing machine but I refuse to sew by hand unless I absolutely have to!

I look at it this way... you can prolly get an inexpensive sewing maching for the price of a nice bedding set... I would check online and I know walmart has some ab $70. The first couple times suck, but you get better as you go and have lots of cute bedding to mix and match I even made litte ferret dresses out of the scraps... not that they were happy about it!

You know that's one of the things I wanna learn how to do. Some one suggested getting toy dog shirt patterns and adjust it a little smaller for a fert. I have two dif hammie sets going right now. I got the hammocks and sleep sacs done but I'm waiting on my FN til I make the covers for the platforms and ramps. I don't have the measurements for those so I gotta wait til it comes in. But to the OP, yeah I would invest in a sewing machine for sure! I use mine all the time. I made the hammies and toys (from scraps) for the ferts and I have made baby blankets baby slings cloth diapers and dresses for my girls. They are very handy to have if you love projects like I do.

I don't sew either. Not that I don't know how to or enjoy it,its just Im one of those people who have no room. For my rattys right now(and future ferts) I buy colorful fleece(or similar fabric)usually with a cute pattern. Then I cut the size square I want ..cut the corners add hole and hooks. Presto!!! I havent a complaint yet . They sleep very well.
