My oldest had a question for all of us Ferrents that I couldn't answer... So here is Emmett's Q: Do ferrets see in color or in black and white?

I love Bob Church! This link probably has way more than you wanted to know about ferret eyes www.ferretcentral.org/faq/history.html#eyesMost of the way down he says "As for color, wild polecats see the long and short ends of the spectrum; that is, the blues and reds. However, some studies suggest domesticated ferrets have lost the ability to see the blues, so all the color they see is the reds. This is also probably an adaptation to a burrowing lifeway, but is also common in predators that hunt in the dark. "

I had heard they only see reds and blues as far as colors go. Which makes me wonder...do they see purple? For my boys I picked red and blue for their colors. Koda is red and all of his stuff is red, and Kenai is blue.

I know for sure Boris can see purples. Purple fuzzy balls are his favourite toys, even over the red and blue ones
