I picked up a cheap sewing machine on craigslist and I've been buying random sale fabrics for the past few months, but my goal was to actually learn to use it and have new bedding/stuff done for Christmas. For having very little experience, I'm proud of how things turned out and wanted to share
I wanted to make them a nice looking cave with a step for reaching the next level built in, so this is what I came up with (I really like PVC!)
Without cover but with double-layer hammocks:
Ovana approves!
With cover but before anchoring straps were attached (Sasuke taught me a lesson!)
In the cage...Sasuke still thinks the top makes a great hammock.
Akiko approves too!
Here's the stack of stuff I made for the giving tree...Kyou wanted to be involved. I had some old jeans I couldn't wear anymore, and I thought since the brats love climbing up my pant legs so much, I'd line them with fleece for hangy tubes
Ovana loves her hippo sack so much I had to bribe her out with 'tone
I didn't make this hammock (it came with Mokkun) but I liked the idea of hanging it up near the kitchen so Ovana has less distance to travel to the food dish, as she's not doing well lately. So I put hooks in the fruit box (free on craigslist!) and she loves the new location!
New ramp cover and a simple hammock that doesn't hold the litter the way the pocketed fleece one that used to be there did...it's so nice to be able to run the vacuum hose over it quick and be done
More PVC and upholstry material (which I spilled water on)! This time a ramp zip tied to the FN leg, before they were just using another rubbermaid box as a step. They like this way better because they can slide down it.... I also made too much stuff, so my first experimental hammock is on the bottom and gets toys stashed in it. And I couldn't find a place for the pants-tube so for now it goes through the ramp since the door's never closed anyway.
Despite all the love and effort I put into making things extra cozy, Tadakichi still prefers his monkey in the corner
