Hi! I've been considering getting a ferret and I think I've found a rescue to go pick up in a couple of days. I'm very holistically minded and would love any tips/links you all can offer me regarding holistic care for this little guy!
Thanks! Jen

Hello! Welcome to Holistic Ferret! This site is overflowing with brilliant people and incredible information! Please, feel free to read through past threads, and never be afraid to ask a question! Everyone here has been a first time ferret owner once If you're considering a raw diet, think about applying for a mentor. They can give you direct, one-on-one advice, tips and help along the way. All of our mentors have a wealth of experience and knowledge and will be able to make the transition smoother! I'm so happy you've found a rescue to adopt from. Those little ones definitely deserve a good home. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask away! Can't wait to hear about your little fuzzy! BTW, pictures of your little baby are a requirement for forum membership ( Just kidding, but we all love them!)

Hi, and welcome Please feel free to browse, ask questions, etc. As Jackie said- we were all first time owners at one point And all found out just how steep a learning curve it really was! Definitely check out the nutritional section. As well as the enrichment section for games, toys, etc. There are some holistic treatments in the natural ferret care area, as well as in the health/medical section

Hi! Thanks for all of the welcome wishes! I haven't been able to check the board since my initial post a couple of weeks ago, but during that time, I did bring home Reece. I was told he's about two years old. They were feeding him crap 9-lives cat food. I couldn't find any ferret foods anywhere that had any decent nutritional profiles, so he's now on Inova Evo cat food, as it looked to be the best I could find. I've also managed to get him to try a little canned sardines, but no other 'real' foods. How do I apply for a mentor, as several people have suggested? He has been great, lots of kisses, but never any hint of teeth. He's a total love, not a big chewer at all. He loves to run around the house, but has no clue how to play. Anyway, thanks again. I'll check in as I can and hope to learn a lot from you all! Jen

Hi! I'll post pics as soon as I get the camera out and get some. I have tons on my phone, but can't get them to the computer. I did post on the mentor request list and I look forward to hearing from someone. I do think I have a little leg up on some as I've done raw feeding before, just need to learn the little 'quirks' of these little guys and their dietary requirements. Thanks!
