I learned that no matter how powerful you think your blender is, DON'T put in an entire chicken + organs + water and expect it to blend. I learned that a blender that is overtaxed starts to heat up and smoke. I learned that too much liquid in the blend and a stuck lid results in chicken goo all over the cabinets and counters. But most importantly of all. I learned there's a darn good reason why my husband does 90% of the cooking in our house, and I make the reservations!

Yeah, I've ruined blenders too making things with much less hard pieces than that-take for instance berry smoothies. Add any bone, and you've got yourself a disaster.

At least you learned from your mistake. I broke two blenders before I learned my lesson

No, blenders really aren't meant to handle bone

It like blender boot camp and you keep pushing your little blender to do more, crush more. Then it just dies...

I bought an antique meat grinder from goodwill for $5...it handles small bones great and there's nothing electric on it to break. I love it!

If it's 70 years old, and still working, that kind of speaks for itself

Hey, I have an old hand grinder that's probably made around 1950 in Holland. It's a heavy, beast but it will grind through turkey bones and I've only locked it up when grinding steak bones. It will grind through anything that I'm strong enough to push through it. ciao

Oh, my grandparents used to have one like that way back when I was little. I need to get one of those. It would be a huge help!
