I watch them on youtube and theres quite a large group of ignorant, and otherwise uninformed and often outraged people how do you respond to that? people talking about how eating a raw chicken leg would make a ferret go after a live rat twice as hard or people talking about how its animal cruelty or how we are sick because we pu tthe videos up... i just never know what to say or how to react

Honestly, there's not much to say. Most people are ignorant because they chose to believe ignorant ideas. It used to make me mad, but you can't change everyones mind. Maybe link to a page with info about raw feeding, so the ones that are interested can get a better understanding of the concept. Other than that, I usually ignore it.

I'd just ignore it as well. I've read the comments as well, and to be honest, there's nothing you can say or do. They've made up their minds without having any knowledge of what exactly it is they've made their minds up about.

I've read that domestication has allowed carnivores to digest plant material. I'm sorry, but domestication did NOT lead to ferrets developing a cecum...

YOU know that, and I know that, but people will believe whatever it is they want to believe. As a species, we can be remarkably self- delusional

People would rather be ignorant because it's really more convenient. Also, many people tend to use the logic that because WE do something, it means that they should also be doing it, not only that, but that it's safe for other species. However, one thing I've never gotten is this: nobody usually dreams of telling a snake owner that they shouldn't feed mice. However, many people feel it's their business to tell it to ferret owners. It's just ignorance, and people who are ignorant do not want to be aware of their own stupidity at being willfully ignorant.

and people feeding live feeder mice generally considered sick but if the guy had killed it then given it to his ferret he would be sick... i just dont like being made to feel like doing what is right is morally sick

It really doesn't matter what you do, if it varies from what is considered the "norm", you are going to get that reaction. Which is why I generally prefer animals to people
