Hello! My name is Michelle and I am the proud mother of 5 wonderful furkids.
I'm a member of a couple of ferret forums but the idea of holistic ferret nutrition and health really intrigues me. I used to be a big health nut myself. I worked at Whole Foods Market for a couple of years which introduced me to the Organic/Holistic market, and I absolutely loved it. I was a Whole Body Team Member, meaning I focused on natural Holistic medicines/remedies and organic cosmetics. Applying what I've learned to my pets has been an ongoing process, and it looks like I've found the perfect place to help me figure out the differences between what's safe for us humans, and what I can use for my pets.
I've always been an advocate of doing things the natural way instead of putting harmful chemicals in our and our pet's bodies. Sometimes it's harder and more expensive then it seems, but hey, the world can't be perfect!
Anyway, more about my ferrets:
I have 3 sables, 1 champagne and 1 albino black-tip (all white with red eyes, but black tipped hair on the butt and tail). They are all males. In fact, all of my animals are males...
Here are a couple of pics.
This is Loki (the champagne) falling asleep in my BF's arms:
This is a group picture of my newest 3 furkids (in order) Loki, Thor and Ra:
Another pic of the group, with my albino Anubis peeking in on the second level:
Finally, my old man Razor. His cage isn't usually this empty, but at the time of the picture his things were being soaked and washed (he's old, separated from the others and that has to be done every couple of days or so):
I'm glad to meet you all! My ferrets are currently on kibble, but I'm getting a food processor for Christmas (muahaha, finally!) and am planning to add homemade raw chicken soupies to their diet alongside with the kibble, possibly upgrading to whole chicken chunks in the future. I don't know if they'll ever be on a completely raw diet, but it's a start, right?
Michelle
