He is getting his osteoma removed from his chin. I am so stressing. Surgery freaks me out, especially on such a small place as a ferret chin. My poor baby

He didn't handle the anesthetic very well. He is still very groggy. COuld it be because he is deaf? They could only remove half of the lump, and they sent it off for a biopsy. In the x-rays it looks easily removed. But it is actually part of his jaw. I've never experienced a major surgery with my ferrets before. I'll probably sleep on the floor next to him tonight. He looks so sore. He had some ferretvite and some raw soupies when he got home. Not much, but atleast he ate it on his own.

They probably zapped him really hard with pain meds. - Did they say he had a tough time with the anesthesia? If not, you may very well be seeing the effects of the pain meds. They DO sleep a lot after a major surgery. they MUST sleep in order to heal. Also, bone trauma definitely has a more significant effect than soft tissue damage (at least it does on me i a very big way). The fact that he ate a bit on his own is very good. I would expect him to pretty groggy tonight.

I set him up in the upper part of the ferret nation, with his own blankies. He ate some cooked dook soup and I ripped up a bunch of chicken into really small pieces for him. They loaded him with fluids and he has water. I hope he is feeling a little better tomorrow. I'm sure he will hurt though.

Sid is feeling a little better today. Ran around a bit before finding a comfy spot to sleep. I am just waiting for my vet to call so I can get him some pain meds. He is pretty swollen today, but still eating well. I put Zoey in with him so he has company and she is also very gentle.

I'm glad that Sid is feeling a bit better. It takes awhile for the anesthetic to wear off and then controlling the pain and swelling (speaking from experience here, just had a lump removed last Monday from my jaw, the poor wee one has my deepest sympathies) I'm still feeling crappy off and on, the benefit to come out of this.....lost 7 lbs so far ciao

I know exactly how nerve wracking surgery can be! I am glad that he made it out okay and is feeling better! Here's hoping for a fast recovery and that the biopsy results come back benign!
