How long do I keep the food in the cage with the fert? Do I leave it for an hour and than any uneaten portion could be saved for dinner or?
Let me know! Thanks!

personally I just leave it in the cage that way they have access to food at all times and can snack and graze when they feel like it...

Yes, one thing I didn't know at first is that you can leave meat in their cage for up to 24 hours, so no need to dispose of good food after a few hours. I know you'd be saving it, but mine personally have access to it 24/7

I cycle out "old" food every 12 hours, although as far as ferret standards go 12 hours is NOT old.

Oh well that's good. Now that I know that, it makes it easier. I guess putting the 5-8 ounces in the cage in the morning and removing it 12-24 hours later is best then?

Let's face it, these little beggars LOVE their own homemade version of jerky If they happen upon a bit of stash I've missed(and I clear everything out weekly) behind the computer desk, or under the sofa, they are in ferret heaven

I've never seen a happier ferret then when they "find" a jerkified piece of food! :-\ ... it's like they forget about it, too, until they happen to stumble on it and then \o/ But I do the same, I generally leave the food until the next meal (12 or so hours apart) and then my dog gets whatever's left over (if anything)
