Hello!! My name is Skylar and I am now a new mommy of a one year old male ferret name Artemis! I rescued him yesterday from a family who was keeping him in disturbing conditions. Ive never owned a ferret before but I have owned sugar gliders in the past so I've had experience with mini fuzz balls! I read a lot about holistic feeding for ferrets and I'm a strong believer in it because we feed our Great Danes a BARF diet. I'll post a pic soon and I'm excited to start mingling and get advice on how to be an awesome ferret mom! So a big hello and a nice to meet ya from both Artemis and I!

Hello both Skylar and Artemis ! Welcome to Holistic Ferrets. Please, feel free to browse, ask questions, join conversations, etc. And check out the nutrition section! Also, the mentoring section and the archives. You can't post to these, but reading them will give you an idea on switching ferrets, and the problems you could run into. And please- pictures please

Hi and Welcome to the group! Hooray for Danes and feeding BARF diet! I've fostered for our local Dane rescue before and I almost always got puppies because of the fact that I fed my crew BARF! One summer I had a total of 3 Pit's, 1 Senior Chihuahua, and 4 Dane pups (they came to me at 12 weeks old)....plus my cats and skin kids! Holy wow what an experience!!! Can't wait to see pictures of your furbabies...both ferret and Dane!!!

Hi and welcome Skylar and Artemis. Please do feel comfortable about prowling the site, reading through the various threads and questions. Ask your own if they're not covered, there are no such thing as a stupid question...the only stupid question in the one that is never asked. Congratulations and thank you for stepping up to the plate and rescuing one of these little fuzzbutts. I hope that I will be seeing more of you and hearing about Artemis' exploits and adventures. Good luck, happy researching . ciao

Yup! 4 dane pups! Three were from one litter and they came to me at 12 weeks and the other one Dewey was about 6 m when he came to me, he was deaf and partially blind but the best luver ever...needed to have constant contact with a person but loved to be all bouncy and goofy! I love how Dane pups are all legs and feet, they get running and trip all over themselves....I miss my pups but they are all in happy furever homes now!
