I know that chicken bone in general is ok, and I do feed neck which is basically the spine, but I've never read anywhere for certain that chicken spine is ok? I was also wondering if anyone had any idea/tips on how long meat can stay frozen before it starts to lose its nutritional value. Thanks

The instant that you freeze you loose nutritional value...the longer you freeze the more you loose. That being said, it doesn't mean that you no longer have nutrition, just less . Hopefully, someone can pop in and give us some actual numbers. I believe that 6 months is the standard but I've fed a lot older without problems. Meat is not something that sits around here but occasionally some falls down through the rotation and you find it at the bottom of the mix, I feed it anyway. After a meal of dated meat, I will feed fresh or freshly frozen. Feeding chicken spine is ok, chicken backs.....they can eat these without difficulty. ciao

I also feed slightly freezer burned meats. Let's face it- I get a fair bit of that for free from clients of mine(I clean houses) . But I do alternate it with other, fresher, meats!

Oh yeah, I feed chicken backs to my fuzz they eat it with out a problem! Gypsy, my newly adopted senior fuzz, has a bit of a hard time getting through the bone so I chop it up for her, but once she gains jaw strength she'll be eating it whole like the rest of the crew!
