You should be able to return the kibble, esp if it is unopened...

Ok well keep up the thick soupies and let me know when she is eating it pretty thick without too much trouble. Then we will try taking out the baby food. You can try putting a little less baby food in the next batch, but don't make it thicker. We only want to change one thing at a time if possible so that all changes are made gradually and "trick" her into thinking it isn't really that different. lol

Awesome! Keep it up! If she ate all of the soup, then for the next soup take a little bit of raw chicken and cut it up into the teeny tiniest pieces that you can manage. You can use a blender to help chop it a little - just don't puree it so it is still a bit chunky. Then put that into the soup.

Her poops will change on a raw diet, once she starts eating solid meat and more bone the poops should stop being less runny. With kibble everything is entirely uniform - there is a thread on here somewhere showing fecal dissections and kibble poop looks just like wet kibble. With raw poops, each poop will be different depending on the food that she ate. She will also start pooping less often as she gets onto whole raw as well. Adding a little squash to the soup would be good. Either a tiny bit of squash baby food or some grated squash - start by letting her lick it off of a spoon to see how she likes it. Koda liked it right away even though he hadn't had it - but I think he was still younger. Add maybe 1/4 tsp of the squash baby food or finely grated squash OR canned pumpkin (NOT pumpkin pie filling - ingredients pumpkin and water) the soup to see if she likes it. Otherwise, yes same ingredients but with tiny chunks of raw. I will be in lab unfortunately for the next several hours but I will check in when I get home. You can always shoot me a text with questions. Good luck!

Okay, sounds good! And just keep an eye on her poops. It shouldn't be anything to worry about and it may take a little while after being on whole raw for them to balance back out but it is always good to keep track of their poops anyways. That is how I caught Koda being sick was noticing that he had odd poops that were not improving. Unless you see blood though, or she is having trouble pooping (lots of straining, etc) or not pooping at all (again poop amount decreases on a raw diet, so less is ok) you shouldn't need to worry at all. Keep me updated, you are doing really well!

thats a good tip i did read on poop forums that that is a huge way to tell if something is wrong. how is koda? i love his name i hope hes doing well. maddie is ok now that i added the chunks she eats them but not all of it maybe i put to much im thinking and when i do offer it to her in my hand she does take the whole thing and eat it from my mouth i think we should stick to this recipe till im confident she is eating the raw little pieces with no problem unless you want me to try something else but i think shes ok with what were doing now

The only thing I would suggest is perhaps slightly decreasing the amount of baby food. I will leave that up to you though. As long as the only ingredients are meat and water it should be fine since it obviously won't be her permanent diet. Keep me updated and let me know when she is eating the little chunks readily.

How big are the chunks? That might be part of the issue. If they are too big she will notice them. You want them to be TINY. Like almost not even chunks... Think grains of rice sized. A blander or food processor should help with that... Stick it in the blender until it is well chopped, but not pureed. Then chop it up even smaller with a knife. then mix that in the soupies. If she is still not eating the tiny chunks in a day or two, let me know and we can try another tactic. Sometimes you just have to get sneaky. lol If she is eating them from your hands though that is a good thing because she is eating them! Remember, she did the same thing with the soupies at first. Keep it up it can take a while and you are making good progress.

Just passing along some tips that were given to me by Sherry: "If she's having problems with the squash or pumpkin, she can also add powdered eggshell, 1/2 per 8oz meat. And as long as Maddie is taking it by hand, that's ok, too! She can give it by hand, switch to the spoon(if she's already doing that, sorry- just read the last page, lol), then just keep lowering the spoon to the bowl til she's taking it from there. " Keep me posted!
