i know it just scares me lol today we had a good day we were at a bbq at my house and she was ini my room free roaming for 5 hours she seemed so happy. i had to feed her kibble since i knew we were coming home late and i couldnt feed her the soup. she seems to eat the soup real watery and wont eat the chunks just tabs her tounge on it so do i continue just giving her the watery soup it comes out actually a little thick after putting it in the microwave to melt it and it doesnt look like its alot for her do you think i should just make soup for her every night and morning fresh or is that fine the way it is.
also i wanted to try feeding her kibble from caseys hidden pantry can i do this even though im trying to feed her raw? i have a feeling she is not going to budge with this raw feeding now but i dont want to quit.

Ummm...the soup has chunks? It should be 100% pureed. Perhaps that is part of the problem? Switching can be a long and slow process, so don't give up just yet we have just seen the tip of the ice berg, much less breached it. I don't see why it would be a big problem to switch her kibble, but I don't know that I have ever heard of someone doing a double switch. Changing the kibble should be easier than raw though. lol If you are worried about her not eating this soupy just let me know, there are other approaches that we can take. If you would like we can try this instead - just let me know what you think. Go back to your original soupy recipe with the kibble in it since we know she likes that. You can even add a little of the new kibble into it if you want, and then make the kibble in her cage a mix of the two probably. Then, after renewing her like of the soupy, add some pureed raw chicken into the soup. Then we can slowly withdraw the cooked raw, and then the kibble and do it that way. The problem with doing it that way is that some ferrets have sensitive stomachs and the mix of kibble and raw together doesn't agree with them even in soupies, but some ferrets do just fine with kibble-raw soup. Since we don't know which category Maddie falls into, I figured that it would be best to eliminate that variable and get rid of the kibble first before adding the raw. Some ferrets are ok with it though (I think more are than are not) and she may be. Otherwise, just add a little kibble back into the cooked chicken soupy again like before, but make the kibble a little bit less than the original recipe. Maybe half or so. See if she eats that. If she does then keep feeding her that. After a few days half the amount of kibble again. Etc. Then, when the soup is kibble free again, we can slowly add the raw in. And don't think that she won't budge on the raw. We have JUST started. It can take weeks to several months to switch, but it is very possible. It is just a slow gradual process. Stick with it and it will be very worth the trouble in the end. As for the soupies, it is up to you if you want to freeze it or make it fresh each day. Either way works fine. Only don't microwave it to thaw it. Take out a frozen cube (or however many cubes you would feed) and put it in a covered bowl or plastic container. Then, stick that in the fridge overnight, or on the counter for a few hours until it thaws. You can even put it in her cage frozen and see if she likes the cubes, many ferrets do. Koda loves mice-cicles. Then it will thaw out over the day too and she can eat it thawed later if she prefers that.

**EDIT** I just realized you said Casey's Hidden Pantry Kibble. You mean the freeze dried raw? That could be a good way to get her used to the taste of raw while we work on the soups and weaning off the kibble. That will work fine. Just start mixing a little in with the usual kibble. You might even drizzle a little soup (original recipe that she likes) over the combination like gravy to convince her to taste it...
Anyways, we can def talk more about that too. Let me know which of the soupie plans you like the sound of better too.

omg ! i was the one totally screwing up i was putting the ice cube into the microwave i thought that was so bad thats why i asked because i wasnt sure. maybe shell like it even better if i try to give it to her from being in the fridge ill def let you know how that goes tonight since this morning she did have her kibble. im thinking of ordering caseys wysong kibble since i heard it is the best since it is raw and alot better for it.
im going to try to stick with the same method with no kibble and use the last ice cube i have left for tonight to see if she eats it if not then i will make a new batch like you said with less kibble sp that way i can kinda fool it into eating it more. thanks for the tip aboutt he microwave.

No problem. That is why I am here after all. The Wysong is pretty good. I personally am a fan of the Stella and Chewy patties. They have an interesting texture and are easy to break up and mix into water (soupies) etc. They might be good to start with because you could easily crush them into a dust and then mix that with the kibble. Then there would be no way she would get a bite of kibble without tasting the freeze dried raw since it would all be coated. lol And that plan sounds good. Just be patient and stick with it you are doing a really good job. Let me know how she does with the fresh batch of soupies with half the kibble. Once you know she likes it, you can use it to help convince her to eat the freeze dried raw too. Then you will be getting 2 birds with one stone. Just mix the freeze dried raw with her regular kibble and use the soupies as gravy like I mentioned before. And sorry it took a while to get back to you on your psot. I have been in and out today dealing with car stuff. lol

I would stick with a little bit of kibble and try making it a little bit thicker instead, then we can slowly withdraw the kibble. If she will eat it thin without kibble on her own, great, go with that and we can work on making it thicker. But if she needs to be hand fed and encouraged, lets try to get her to eat slightly thicker soup with kibble and slowly thicken the soup and pull out the kibble. Keep me posted!

Ok, so now I will reply for real. haha It can take up to several months to switch ferrets, and they will have good days and bad days so even when it seems like she is not making the switch yet, stick with it and she will get past the plateau. Sooo keep today in mind in the case of any potential future plateaus. You are doing a REALLY good job - keeping track of school alone is a LOT to take on, much less caring for pets and doing whatever else and then trying to go through the long and time consuming process of switching to a raw diet. I am super excited that she ate the thick soupies! She is getting past the first big step. For tomorrow's soupies, instead of 1/2 a tsp of kibble try to take a baby step instead. You just made a big step in the forward direction, we don't want to push her too much and make her go back a step. Ferrets are funny little critters. haha Instead, since you did 1 1/2 tsp this time, try 3/4 tsp tomorrow, and then maybe a pinch the next day, if she eats that so that you sort of sneak it out of there without her realizing it. The more gradual it is, the less likely they are to notice the change and be resistant. I am super excited for you and Maddie - and proud! You two are doing it - keep up the hard work and she will be eating raw like she never knew the difference! javascript:add("%20 %20")

Yaaaaaayyy! i know super yay so whats next ? what i suggested ? or do i start taking the chicken baby food out i read in someones forum that the canned baby food should be taken out ? Baby food fed for a long time can be bad, but since you are feeding only small amounts it should be ok. Lets try not to change too many things on her just yet. Once we get the kibble out - which you are getting really close to now - then we can swap the baby food out for raw.
