So I made some duck soup a month or so ago, and took some out of the freezer today for the kids. Harley, the pickiest of my 3 ferrets, LOVED it! Of course, nobody else would eat it, but she did!

Fantastic!!!!! It's quite possible she might actually be the easier switch With the others, try scruffing and dabbing it on the end of their noses, so they have to lick it off. Once they do that, offer it from first, your finger, then a spoon, then a dish! Once they are doing that- they are well on their way

He thinks if somebody else is eating it, he has to... so he kept trying it Everytime gave that look like "EW EW EW GET IT OFF" Rascal was sleeping, so I had not tried him before Harley ate it all

Trying it is half the battle. He knows, instinct is telling him he should like this but he can't get past the texture and the taste. It's so different from his kibbles ciao

It never fails to amaze me how they absolutely HAVE to have what someone else is eating

They really are like kids in some ways. "I'll eat it even if I hate it just so you can't have it!"

Yeah, the actual switch from kibble to raw was pretty rapid, but for the first few months before we tried them on solid meat we gave them each a serving of soup a day, which I think smoothed the process as a whole, getting them used to the taste. The only other hurtle was bone, and that was pretty much taken care of by cutting it into pieces so that they could get at the marrow to see it was good. I still have to cut the bone at least in one place-I'm hoping sometime to be able to put larger pieces in front of them-but for now, they're happy doing this, and it doesn't bother me. However, when I give them whole mice, they're on that pretty quick. Thank goodness they like em' best frozen.
Congrats! Soup is a great lead in!

Thanks guys! Did not even have to force them to. Rascal, who I thought would be the hardest, just sniffed it and went right to eating it. Of course, once Ren saw that Rascal and Harley were BOTH getting something that he was not, he had to fix that

I've switched more ferrets doing the "monkey see, monkey do" philosophy than any other. Most are much more willing to try if they see one of their counterparts eating with gusto. ciao
