Monster had been with me since the spring of 09. He's been through being poked with needles, prodded by vets, tousled around as I struggled to find the right cage, and had recently developed insulinoma and adrenal disease.
He's the ferret that shares his heart to anyone that would take a moment to run their hand over his patchy fur, and gaze into his eyes. One eye, blue with cataract, is most likely blind.
Monster has even changed the life of a ferret who came in ready to just give up. Dingo who shares alot of monsters problems, adrenal with two cataracts, was not a happy ferret. He did not want anything to do with humans after being shipped around from home to home and finally left for dead as he grew sick and ugly. Young ferrets aren't his thing so monster quickly became his best Friend. A yr later and dingo's fur has grown back thick. He doesn't run when I hold him, and he plays when he gets into a happy mood.
But monster is slowly going down hill. He's had four low glucose attacks, two new doses of prednisone, ulcer meds, and lots of vets. I give him some oil each time I prick his toe and test his suger to show my love for him being kind. He lays still unless his oil runs out.
Nom Nom
So my only wish this Christmas is for him to stay balanced and happy until the day when he looks up at me with his big brown eyes, and tells me, " Momma..I've shared my love around until I have no more to give. Could you please let me go to be free of sickness, and happy again? "
