Or at least right outside of New Orleans. I stumbled upon this forum earlier today in my ever expanding search of ferrety knowledge and thought this might be a good place to learn some stuff! I've been planning to try to switch my two ferts over to a more natural diet or at least supliment their current one with some raw goodies. (It was hard enough to talk my grandmother-in-law to allow Ollie and Izzie into the house.. I don't see her letting me keep micecicles in her freezer -_-;; ) For the present I was thinking of learning a bit more about what -is- alright to give them so that I'll at least be more informed when I am able to switch them over to the raw side. But for now... FERRET SPAM! [glow=hotpink,2,300]<Isabella "Izzie" left, Oliver "Ollie" right>[/glow]

*finishes setting up avi and siggy*
Thanks and double thanks! I already have the Ferrets for Dummies book and that's been my only source of information until now. It seems like there are new ferret communities popping up all over the place! I'll definatly be browsing some of those links.
And btw, those ferret emotes are full of awesome!

lol thanks. I love the emoticons, and we are adding new ones all the time when I get a little extra cash here and there) the forum artist, Polawat Darapong did a great job! He's a Thailand based artist. You can check out his gallery here (he can do such a WIDE range of art its insane! The emoticons on this site look NOTHING like the work in his gallery, but he's able to do a bunch of different drawing styles: polawat.deviantart.com/He's got really afforable rates and can do commisions if you ask nicely I sent him a pic of Hendrix (in my siggy) and lugnut (in my siggy) and he combined them to create the ferret in the Holistic Ferret Logo. He could probably even do drawings of people's ferrets. He rocks lol

Wow. o.o
I could probably make some icons like that if given enough motivation (those graphic arts classes are good for something at least) but I'm no where near as talented as that.
I'm a sucker for ferret art though. I'm running a contest on Gaia Online right now to get more arts of my two. =3

Welcome! I have to keep my "micicles" in a few layers of bags, in the bottom of the freezer, so my hubby doesn't have to look at them. LOL

Your babies are adorable. I love the bib on Ollie and Izzie looks just like my Rolo Brown. What show does your avatar come from? I love it to.

Hello there! I am also from New Orleans (when I saw your post I actually thought it was mine. lol) Your babies are very cute!
It was hard enough to talk my grandmother-in-law to allow Ollie and Izzie into the house.. I don't see her letting me keep micecicles in her freezer.
I bought a refigerator/freezer for mine. It was about $180 after taxes and well worth the money. I have no intention of putting mice in with my regular food, and I think my roommate would have a stroke if he opened the freezer and saw dead mice staring back at him.
Enjoy your babies, did I mention how cute they are?

Hi and welcome You will find a lot of information here and if you check out all those addys that Guili gave you. I store my ratcycles in the plastic cookie containers (now it does present some surprises to a son who is forever hungry and will occasionally run a raid on the freezer for goodies ) You don't have to feed whole prey, ground mixes work just as well, they're not the best but they're far better than the dry kibble stuff. My guys get the whole thing....ground raw, both pre-fab and homemade, chunks and whole meats, and finally whole prey. Each method has it's own merit and most of the time is easily worked in to fairly decent feeding schedule. Feel free to ask questions, we're here to help out ciao
