Because they're ferrets? As long as the acorns are intact, I don't see a problem. It would certainly give them something different!

Is there a risk of mold, fungus and parasites? I read that rats can get parasites from leaves is there a risk for ferrets? What about rabbits and guinea pigs? I would love to go get a bunch of leaves and make digging/burrowing boxes for all of them but only if its safe.

If you gather them when they're damp, then yes, mold/fungus will grow. Get them when they are dry. Parasites, not so much a problem here. And let's face it- I take mine out for walks, and they love burrowing through leaves, etc. on a regular basis!

Do you think leaves would be safe for rats, guinea pigs and rabbits? I guess if they are safe for ferrets I dont see why they wouldnt be for other animals but I worry about everything and I want to make sure.

They might try to eat them, but beyond that, I don't see why not. But don't quote me on that That could be what the problem with the other small animals is- they actually eat the leaves, and ferrets don't?

Rats dont eat what they chew on and my guinera pigs dont chew very much. The rabbits chew on everything but I read on a few websites that digging boxes with leaves are fine so I am going to get all of them boxes full of leaves. I think they will all have fun and its free.
