Willow does this regularly. This is the first time I've caught her on camera. She always wakes up after a couple minutes of me playing with her head and legs

This is a disconcerting habit of little ferrets that most people find not only disturbing but can be downright terrifying for those that have not experienced it. Even those that are well acquainted with this peculiar habit of our little fuzz-butts give a double take when you reach in a sleep box or hammy and withdraw a "dead" ferret. ciao

Does it sound horrible to say I've actually gotten used to it with her ? ( times out of 10, if you pick her up sleeping, she's in the DFS. Which is why I have so much fun playing with her Now, if it were one of the others, it would be a different story!

The first time my boyfriend watched Paulie when I visited home he fell into DFS. He was texting me frantic and didn't buy he was okay even after waking up. I joked that was why I left Ferrets for Dummies out for him.
Paulie also escaped his cage that same weekend, haha. He pulled out all his tricks.

Ozzie does it quite a lot to. The first time I have to admit my heart did skip a beat. But now I know, I just feel for a heart beat, just to be sure. Now I take advantage of it, and quickly do his nails, watching him of course in case he wakes up and moves.

OMG! LOL!! I had to read that story to my husband ;D he loved it!
Sookie has only done that once a few days after i got her.... i was going to let her run around the house for a while so i gave the hammy a nudge... and she didnt move.. didnt look like she was breathing either(but the lighting was bad so i couldnt really tell for sure anyway) i reached in and grabbed her expecting the worst. she was floppy for about five seconds and then came to with this look on her face..... "Well excuuuuuuuse me!" lol i've had kittens do similar... not quite as bad as a ferret, but i guess if you're gonna play hard then you have to sleep hard?
seriously though.. why DO they do this??

hahaha I LOVE it! MegaWeasel is the only one that does this...prolly once a week, but he is only out for about 20 sec. It is the only 20 sec I get to cuddle him, because after that he is just a spazz.

I only wish sly bandit was a dead sleeper. It's so cute! Everytime he's asleep he's rather in his cage or huddled somewhere I can't get him =[
Heather, That story is too funny! I'm sure if Sly DID go into that deep of a sleep I would be hysterical calling the vet or coming on here =[
