With great difficulty I write this. So many little ones have gone. My sweet boy has said goodbye to so many of his friends during his stay here. On this day, his best friend, one long gone came to tell his best friend that they would once again journey together. That their adventures and paths would once again be together forever. Partners in mischief the bridge will never, ever be the same.
If there was a height that needed climbing Mad Max would be there.
A hole needed to be dug deeper
Ferrets in need of clean clothing to play in
Christmas trees to be climbed and decorated with little ferty type things.
and cupboards to be opened
My sweet Mad Max would find them.
Dubbed Maximus Hyjinx when he came through the door over 6 years ago. Turned in by an owner who no longer wanted to deal with him and his little partners in crime. They had lived their lives on a sailboat. I just cannot imagine the trouble that Max could have found out there on the water. Max was a biter par excellence, with a preference for noses, ears and toes. If you ever thought to interrupt this athletic go getter be very prepared to extricate sharp teeth from hands and fingers. He eventually learned to love and trust. He even considered snuggling once and awhile. In his time here, he said goodbye to Mayhem (one of the group of 4 turned in with Mad Max and his best hammy chum), Porthos (inseparable partner in crime, I almost lost Max over this little ones death), Nicodemus (who Max turned to who missed Porthos nearly as much as Max), Loki (who went so quickly after little Nico). Max will now be deeply missed by Lady B who had chosen him as a snuggle partner and Captain Jack who had become Mad Maxs newest apprentice.
Run free my sweet boy. There is no pain or fear for you now. I wish I could have spared you from the aggressive lymphosarcomas that claimed your life and that of your partner in crime. One can only wonder as to the cruel fate that would take your life in the same manner as your best furfriend. Your journey continues, a candle is lit to guide your footsteps, but I know you are not alone. Another runs with you and now you are truly happy again. We will all meet again someday my wee ones. We will someday roam the wild hills once more and you, Porthos and other of my little ones will play again.
Goodbye my Sweet Max...goodbye, I miss you so much my little troublemaker .
