I have been reading a few too many posts about people giving ferrotone (By 8 in 1) and furotone (by Marshall's) And It scares me how many people don't know the harmful effects of the preservatives and fake stuff they put in there. I have been eyeballing for some time now Vivify by Totally Ferret (some thing as the ferretone and furotone but natural) and decided to research its ingredients and found that it is a truely completely natural product that I would consider giving my girls (I don't give them any of these products personally If i need them to stay still I use a few drops organic extra virgin olive oil) Now that i read about the Vivify I am going to be buying it for my girls just to have. Their coat is allready so soft, long and fluffy (just from the decent kibble and Nupro, the vet said that they are they have the best looking coats he has ever seen) Vivify also claims to be a natural anti inflammatory, and is an anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. It is currently on sale at ferret depot.com for $ 5.49 www.ferretdepot.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=fd&Product_Code=1504&Product_Count=&Category_Code= So I'm not trying to wag fingers or anything just trying to be helpful and prolong the life of your beloved furkids.

I don't use either of the two mentioned, however:
From your link above: Totally Ferret Vivify Emu Oil Ingredients:Poultry fat, emu oil, olive oil, lecithin, alpha-tocopherol acetate
Google of alpha-tocopherol acetate: alpha-tocopheryl acetate is an all-synthetic form of alpha-tocopherol

I would still say for the people who do use ferretone or furotone vivify would still be better

I would choose the Vivify over ferretone anytime but if you can get your hands on PURE human grade emu oil I'd recommend that over anything (even fish oil). A polecats diet wouldn't have much fish in it but emu isn't much different then chicken so there is no reason it couldn't be given on the regular bases.

very good points everyone. Is there any type of poultry oil availible other than Emu? I have to go search online for it now and make a note to call the natural food store. (side note: why do ferrets like olive oil so much when it has no real benifit to them since they can't digest it being from a fruit i think?) *skips away to do a google search....and find my d*mn chapstick*

I just wanted to add that I use Ferrevite for the sole purpose of getting Apple and Kiwi not to move during nail time. And now for Kiwi to try raw. Otherwise I always use Salmon oil. I do not use Ferretone even though I do have it. I just don't know what to do with it now! I'm totally aware of the amount of sugar in Ferrevite, however nothing else will make them sit still.

This may sound odd, the girl who i told at the pet store when i got Mr. bean she asked me to scruff him and she said it helps when you have someone to help you. I said oh at home I just scruff them with my teeth and use one hand to hold them and the other to cut. She looked at me funny. I rarely have any complaints out of any of the 3. And when I first got Loki she HATED getting her nails cut it took me an hour. I wanted to rip her head off it made me so mad. But now I get all 3 of them done in less than 15 minutes.

I pull the thing out in the CPU chair that makes it lean back and lay them on my chest so that there isn't a lot of pressure on their neck. I don't do it hard of course. I figure it reminds them of their mom being controlled by the neck.
