Does any one know how to handle this? I've been invaded by fruitflies in my new apartment! They love to fly around the ferret's meat and I believe that is what is causing them to stay and mate. I have NEVER had this problem before with anywhere else i've lived, and it is getting very frustrating!
i put out dishes of fruit juice covered with plastic wrap. they fly into the dish, land in the juice and drown. it's pretty successful for the first couple of days but they still flock to the meat.
help?

You have my sympathies and if you find a solution I will be interested too. This is the first year that I"ve noticed this problem. I don't know if it's the heat or what but it's more than annoying and frustrating. I noticed that as the weather has got colder my infestation is getting less. ciao

Fruit flies here also. I set traps like you do, but I use balsamic vinegar and a drop of dish soap to break the water tension so they'll for sure drown.
All you can really do is diligently clean. Check places like the garbage can and feeding dens for a breeding ground. We found teeny little maggots on the underside of our kitchen garbage lid. Once we got that cleaned up but good the problem abated quite a lot.
