I was wondering if a product I have found would be appropriate for feeding short term www.answerspetfood.com/The "straight chicken" which has 60% meat, 30% organ 10% bone included but no grain... has been a hit with my business, and I supplement with heart for taurine. Things have gotten hectic and I have arranged for feeding in my absence my pre-measured portions of this food because I did not wish a lapse back to kibble for convenience. Opinions greatly appreciated:)

That actually doesn't sound too bad. I don't know if the liver content is a little too high, or if it's because they've included gizzards with it to reach the 30%, but you can always add in some pumpkin if it is. And if it's just for the short term, just the chicken should be fine. Otherwise, you'd really need to rotate the proteins.

Thank you for your help:) the ingredients are Antibiotic free, hormone free chicken, chicken liver, chicken gizzard, ground chicken bone. The ferrets poops are well formed and normal, so it seems to be agreeing with them. At my wholesale I pay about $9 for 4lbs, not bad at all. The same company makes a beef also, Ingredients are Antibiotic free, hormone free beef, beef heart, beef kidney, ground beef bone, beef liver. My ferrets have never tried beef, but if you think the ingredients are ok I might try it with them so they can have some variety during my trip. I really don't want to leave the caregivers feeding kibble - but I don't want it to be too much trouble for them. I cut the frozen blocks into 1 oz cubes, with 1 days worth in each freezer container for ease of use and thawing.

It sounds good. Try the beef. My guys get a lamb mix that is similar to that. They love it. As sherrylynne mentioned if you find looser stools add some pumpkin or even egg shell to up the bone if there is too much organ meat. I find that beef is a bit ritcher so my guys are a little looser on it than on chicken, quail or turkey. I find prepackaging the raw makes it much easier for alternative caregivers. They just need to thaw and feed. It works. We hope for a perfect world, then we feed the top we can but it's not perfect so we feed the best we can In my opinion....kibble doesn't make it there ciao
