Baby ferrets (yes, kits ) are mini garbage disposals. It is alarming how much they eat! With them you basically give them as much food as they'll eat. When they hit about 6-7 months old, that is when you start to kind of moniter their food intake, but on the whole ferrets are pretty good about not overeating. Its very rare for a ferret that doesnt have a pre-existing medical condition to become obese. Some good starter foods for baby ferrets are chunked chicken (ideal from chicken thighs, skin still on), and chicken wingettes (segments of a chicken wing). These two foods are a good way to get your ferret onto natural foods. I would put them on raw the day you bring your baby home. The sooner you do it, the easier the switch will be. Baby ferrets are generally pretty easy to switch. When the time comes for you to bring baby home and to start the diet, we'll be right here to hold your hand. Do you have any more questions? (Im sure you do!) Feel free to post additional questions about diet here in this section, and take advantage of the General Ferret Talk section to post questions about ferrets and ferret care in general.

Yes, normal chicken from the supermarket is fine. Just be sure its not in a "solution" (ie high sodium broth thing)
