I get the daily paper. They come rolled up in tubes and wrapped in a plastic bag. We open up the other end, and our girl Posh will take them from the front porch and bring them to the sofa. And then run through them.

cute! I bet one could make fun tunnels out of rolled-up newspaper (maybe taped so it stays rolled). That's what I was picturing when you said that, lol...

I believe it, Giuli! I saw linked somewhere on a Ferret rescue or something a lady was selling "dry ferret bath sacks" or something like that where it was just a nice fleece sack and it had oats and stuff in it and you put the ferret in the bag and let it roll around or whatever. I've heard the rice boxes work well to help absorb oils as well, but mine didn't go in theirs enough to make a difference. Plus form what I understand from my aunt who had them right now, apparently Goliath's adrenal caused him to have stronger BO than I realized - she said the cage/bedding can go way longer without being washed. Since my fuzzies are going to have their own room back home, I may convert my rice box into a dirt box and see how that goes over.... I HAVE FOUND THE MYSTERY DRY BATH SACKS!!!!!!!!!! you have no idea how thrilled i am to have found these. I have been goin nuts trying to remember where i seen these and i am not sure if it is the same one jennifer was talking about but it is the one i remember seeing. It is on the bottom of the page above the tower of fun. they are $15 plus shipping but right now they are sold out which is fine with me because i don't have the cash for it right now.......(Where is my frickin tax stimulus check..... I bet I am one of the lucky ones whose was mislabled and sent to someone else....joy) www.freewebs.com/fuzzyloving/cottageproductsjewelry.htm

That's it! It was sold out when I saw it waaaaaay back when, too. I bet they could easily be made. She says "special type of bran found only by me"? We've already got several ideas here of things that could work, and I'm sure we could come up with others. Can't wait till I can use my fuzzie to test (safe) things, hehe...
We should email her and ask if she intends to make them again, and if not if she'll "share" her "secret" with us...

I want to get the ferret creme rinse on this site since bathing robs them of their natural oils. I e-mailed the site about their ingredients since they aren't listed and it is all completely natural. www.biogroom.com/ Did you ever buy the creme rinse? I haven't given Apple a bath yet, he's been with me about 6 months. He hasn't done anything dirty, however I just got Kiwi and she is covered in ink from a newspaper. She is a creamy white but I think it will really improve when I switch her diet, its so rough and dirty looking. I'd love to maybe not give her a full on bath, but possibly use this? Is this soap, or how often would you be using this? Would you use it more often since its only a rinse, or about the same as you would any other soap? Is this like shampoo, it bubbles then you rinse and you're done? PS. Giuli ever since I have been on this site and looking to go natural with Apple, I have started going more natural with myself and things I consume. So thanks!! You've got me thinking of ways I can be healthier in a more natural way!!

If she won't make a bunch to sell on the site hopefully we can get her to make a few to sell to us personally. I thought that was a really great idea when i seen it.

Personally, I'd rather just make one I guess I could play around with different stuff "in" the bag until I came up with something that worked well! Something that would help absorb the oil/odor/whatever you want to call it off of the ferrets every now and then....

Yea good point. Its not like it could hurt them. I bet it is the same kind of bran my Opa puts in his yogurt for fiber. it is brown and powdery.

I thought if you use litter that is dusty its bad for them, but if you use oatmeal that is powdery its ok? Wouldn't that pose the same risks to his respiratory system?
Also, that creme rinse is a conditioner, so first you use a shampoo. I've had Apple for 6 months now without a bath, and he doesn't roll around in dirt either, so he's never gotten really dirty. He doesn't have a rice dig box either, I was hoping to find something a litter cheaper to add to a box. But I guess I will have to go with rice since he likes the cornstarch peanuts too much now. I hadn't planned on giving him a bath unless I thought he got super dirty or something. Could I possibly only use this rinse without a shampoo? If I were to only use the rinse, would it do anything good to use it more often then twice a year?
I do take him in the shower with me and wet him down and "rinse" off his fur that way, and then he dries out on the towels. But I haven't applied soap to him yet. I'm a little worried for his panic!!! LOL But I plan on using Johnsons & Johnsons No Tear Lavender scent, or maybe if I buy this rinse, also buy the ferret shampoo. What do you think?

I would get the coat brightener shampoo and the rinse. I'm sure it would work just fine by itself but me personally if I was going to "bathe" them at all I would shampoo and condition at the same time to get it out of the way. With regular brushing it stimulates oil production making their fur soft and shiny. And don't let the price scare you. If you don't bathe often then you don't use a lot at all. When I got Mr. Bean I had to give him a bath because well he just came from Marshall's farm and he had poopy stuck to a couple nails. I used a dime size dollop of shampoo and that was all i needed.

If he's not nasty, he doesn't need a bath! Mine only get baths if they drag themselves through their poo or something gross like that. And if they can be rinsed off without soap - even better! The soap is what strips the coat. Just water is fine! For a dig box, how about dirt? I don't think it'd cost too much to buy a bag of plain soil, and earlier in this thread it was said that it works pretty well to remove that ferrety smell and such. Don't use J&J on him. If you need something inexpensive, buy some kitten shampoo. That's what I had to do to start off with. If the oats are 'dusty' then it wouldn't work. That's why I said I'd have to play around with some stuff and find something that would work. I'm not very knowledgeable about oats and bran and stuff in plain form, lol, but I can figure it out
