Hello everyone! I'm Hailey but please call me Hails. I'm the momma to two little weasels, Boogie and Baby. I'm 19 and had been dying to get a ferret since 2007. How can you resist those adorable little faces?!
I got Boogie from a Craigslist ad in February and he's a deaf silver panda. He's gonna be two in December and he's definitely a momma's boy. His favorite thing in the world is going to Petsmart and getting cuddled by everyone in the store.
Baby, on the other hand, is a little spitfire. I got her from a Petco in June and she's about 7 or 8 months. She's a DEW with the smallest sprinkling of dark hairs on her back. She hates being held or walked on a leash and hisses at me all the time. I'm pretty sure she just enjoys being a little brat.
Both of them are on a kibble diet. Boogie came to me and would only eat Marshall's food but I've gotten him on some much better stuff. Baby will generally eat anything you put in front of her face, even if she has to push her big brother out of the way. They looooove freeze-dried beef liver as treats and adore their soup. I'm trying to incorporate some more real meat into their diet, though.
The other day, I bought some delicious turkey necks from the local Piggly Wiggly. Course, they wouldn't touch just the raw necks so I had to slave over a sharp knife and just all the tiny pieces of meat off and get the marrow out for them. Baby's eaten a few pieces already while Boogie just licks the Ferretone off and tries to hide the bowl.
I think I'll have better luck getting something boneless and mixing that in with their soup. Eventually, I'd hope to have them eating a few frozen mice as a supplement to their kibble. But as it is, I have about 7 more turkey necks left in the freezer.
