I'm sad.... I came home this morning around 1:30 and discovered Jasmine had passed away. I adopted her about a month and a half ago, so she was only with me a short time. I was told that she was about 5 or 6 years old, that she was deaf, and that at one point she had suffered so badly from malnutrition that she had lost use of her hind legs. Jasmine came to me with her cage mate Crumb, their mom had to give them up because she was moving with her husband to be closer to her stepdaughter and the apartment complex they were moving to didn't allow pets. They came to me eating Marshalls...but Jasmine tolerated the switch to raw quite well and loved rabbit...she didn't play like the other fuzz, she much prefered to curl up and love on me or Emmett(my oldest skin kid) and basque in all the attention she could get. Though she did love to dig around in our Christmas bow dig bin... She was a special girl with silky soft white fur and a love for a warm lap... Goodbye sweet Jasmine, we'll meet again at the Bridge.

Poor wee thing. A candle is lit to guide her way to a warm sunny place where there are many laps to curl up in and many fingers to tickle all the right places. It seems so often with our little rescues who have been so abused and ignored, they find peace and love and then they move on. A crushing blow for those that care but perhaps there is a reason. Their little bodies are already so damaged, so hurt by that neglect, and pain that they should have passed on in that hell that was their home. Instead they held on to find out what it was really like in a real home. In a place where people who really love them, who do care for them, who will shed a tear or two for their passing. One cannot heal the damage physically but we can love and care for them and show them what is possible. They seem to be at peace with this gift that we give and then they continue their journey. Run free little one, for you are now free. You are healthy and happy and in you heart is the gift of love. You are now on your greatest journey to a wonderful place. A place of gentle breezes and warm sunny days. A place filled with cool grass and many soft dark places to dig and curl up in. Here you will wait for the person who gave you a piece of their heart, the key that all little ferts wait for, the key that will allow you to wait and see your best friend once more when the time comes. This world is emptier for your passing but the sky has got one more bright star. Goodbye sweet Jasmine ciao
