Hi

Have been browsing the forum for a long time now and decided that it was time to be a member and introduce myself.

My name is Henriette ,i´m 41 years old and live in Denmark. I have 3 kids and live alone with the youngest ,almost 5 years old ,and all our pets.
I have had ferrets since year 2000 and in 2008 I decided to start breeding them with the goal of a longer lifespan ,better health and a good temperament.

I currently have 2 litters ,one with 2 kits(almost 12 weeks old now) and one with 10 kits(11 weeks old now).Keeping 2 kits from the big litter myself.Besides those two I´m keeping I have 4 adult ferrets and an eleven old kit I got from a fur farm/Mink farm.

At the moment I´m feeding half Barf and half kibble.I am in the progress of trying to get my hob to eat Barf.He´s very stubborn hehe.When the last of my kits have found new homes I´m going to switch to all Barf ,so I am doing a lot of reading to get things right.

My German Shepard, Kongo ,almost 2 years old.He has had a very rough time growing up.Severe growing pains untill he was a little over 1 year old ,he´s hypermobile and he has recently been diagnosed with food allergi ,so he´s on a strict Barf only with out vegetables menu.

Hi and welcome to the forum
This is great that we're starting to get more breeders on board as well as rescue and pet owners. You're the people who are going to reach the purchasing public with the whole raw food for our furbabies.
Please feel free to prowl around check out the various threads, read through, ask questions. Everyone's friendly and more than willing to help out.
I love the photos of your little one. Please feel free to start a thread and add some more of your photos, everyone loves the pictures. Furbaby pics are always welcome. The 11 week old kit from the fur farm, is this a ferret or a mink/ferret mix?

Mink and Ferrets CAN´T be mixed.
On the furfarms are American Mink (Mustela vision). They can´t be mixed with European polecat(Mustela putorius ) or Mustela putorius Furo. Their genes(kromosone number) doesn´t match.
Only mink that CAN be mixed with a ferret is the European mink (Mustela lutreola). But they are "protected" because there are only few left in the nature.

An EU mink/Eu ferret hybrid looks like this and is called a Khonorik. They are VERY aggressive and wild . And if I remember right the hobs are steril only jills can be used.

As Tzari already said ,it's not possible to mix mink/ferret.So he´s pure ferret without any inbreeding and everyone in his line has the same coloration.
I will make sure to post some more pictures within the next few days.Just have to convinced my babies to stay still more than a few seconds lol.

Oh and I forgot...My angora actually never wanted to eat Barf ,she used to be as stubborn as my male.....And I write used to be...until about a week ago...I actually saw her eating a piece of meat and she didn´t even notice me there I guess her curiosity got the best of her and she wanted to know why the other ferrets were eating it.

I love it when you get a case of "monkey see-monkey do" with raw diets That's basically how my last one was completely switched!

I just wish my male would do the same ,but at least he has tasted some of the meat that i´ve mixed with his kibble ,so hopefully he´ll come around
