I have found the perfect water bowl for play time... my pyrex 9 x 11 or 8 x 8 baking dish! It's to heavy and awkard to tip, and not really deep enough to dig in and splash water everywhere! I filled it with ice and then put just enough water to drink in with the ice and voila!!! AWESOME!!!

I'm guessing these are rectangular pyrex? Great stuff. I just used a large kitty litter box (clean not used ) and let the guys swim in that. ciao

yes ma'am! They are just too heavy for the fuzz to pick up, move, or tip over....even if they did use team work.... which I so don't see ever happening...if they did...oh my they'd take over!!

Too heavy for a fuzz to tip over is ALWAYS a good thing. My Fugue LIVES to tip over containers of water. Grrr!!! You should definitely post pics of your little ones enjoying there new toy.

Koda likes to stash his water dish and water when we are at Shane's (aka hte dish is not attached to his cage wall haha). Which means he stashes the dish, but leaves the water on the carpet...

I have a giant mixing bowl in the kitchen that is the community bowl for the dogs and cats, it had high sides but a small base, making it very fun to tip over causing a tidal wave! I had been searching for something that I could put out for the ferrets to use while out and roaming that wouldn't be tipped, and found it right in my kitchen

Sherrylynne - great video! rarnold - That sounds fun! I put ice cubes in Koda's dish the other day and he seemed to really like it. I am sure our fuzzies will be excited to have something to splash in.

I wonder if my boys would like bobbing for ice cubes in a pan of water? Hmmm....

Do your ferts actually swim or do they just stomp around like they're in a really big puddle? I have a very deep jacuzzi tub I just put enough water on the bottom to splash around in but I'm pretty scared of them drowning. Are they built to swim? I have their food/water in Coop Cups and they go NUTS for a full bowl of water, one out of the five in particular just dunks her entire head, all the way up to her shoulders and then shakes and dances. The others are more interested in the jacuzzi jets (why I have no idea... but they're obsessed with sticking their noses in them) but I think this one, if capable/safe, would like to swim or play in deeper water.

i haven't given them enough water to swim in... in the pyrex dish they usually dig or snorkel in it. I like using the pyrex dish because they can't tip it over and cause a tidal wave The last time my crew were in the tub I ended up with claw marks all over my arms from them trying their damnedest to escape

There is a woman on the Ferret Mailing List who's ferrets regularly go for a daily swim with her in the pool So yes, they can swim, it's whether or not they want to get their feet wet The odd time I have to give one of mine a bath, I usually have the water deep enough for them to swim to help rinse themselves off. I make them do a few "laps" in the tub, then finish the rinse job with fresh water
