Hello,
My name is Heather, I live in Sydney, Australia. I am 47 and live with my husband Mark, 7 birds, 1 dog & 3 ferrets.
I got my 1st ferret about 8 years ago. Arnie was my best friend, we went every where together and he never left my side, he loved going to the bank, cause he used to flirt with the girls there, so cheeky.
After I lost him to Insulinoma when he went into a fatal coma at only 2 yr old, it took me a few years to recover from the loss.
But then I got Weasel & Buffy at 3 months old, not related to each other. I got them from a breeder with old fashioned methods. Sadly they were fed on bread & milk. Well I wanted to rescue all of his babies from this abusive feeding, but sadly I could only take 2. It was not hard to get them to eat meat at all, they loved it.
Later on they had 7 beautiful babies, but sadly I had to sell 6. I kept a sable jill we called Bindi, after Bindi Irwin, the crocodile hunter Steve Irwin's (RIP) daughter.
After loosing Weasel to an extremely aggressive Juvenile Lymphoma, when Bindi was 3 months old, I starting looking for another hob to help heal our pain.
I found huge Ozzie, he was 3 months old as well and sable too. At least he was fed kibble & mince, so he thought real meat & bones was the best thing he had ever tasted. Never missed his kibble at all.
I will join Ozzie & Bindi in spring time, Buffy will be desexed soon. They other 2 will be desexed after their babies.
Arnie being cheeky
Weasel & Buffy at 4 months old
6 week old Bindi and some of the 7 babies, and a very tired Buffy
Ozzie at 4 months old
