I have been reading about baby food for an ingredient for some soup, but when I look at the label there is a lot of other stuff in it as well. Vegetable, corn, etc. Is that okay to use? what kind is everyone using when they say baby food? Thanks in advance. BTW I got my Stitch to each tiny pieces of raw chicken stuck in some furovite, curled up nose and all, it was funny. Lilo won't have anything to do with it so going to try and make some soup out of baby food for her.

The baby food that you're seeing is the whole meat type. Usually chicken. There is nothing else except gravy in the this particular baby food. I keep an emergency supply in house for sick ferrets. I also make my own that I keep in the freezer. Keep trying with the meat thing. Persistence and patience is the key components in switching ferrets ciao

I don't understand, is it baby food or gravy? What is the baby food everyone is talking about using to make the soup?

It's baby food. It's just meat and gravy..that's it. There is no veggies or other additional ingredients. The jar that I have is Heinz. ciao

It can take some searching of the baby food aisle to find meat only! Never thought I'd be buying baby food at my age, but it's really handy to have just in case

My boyfriend works at a grocery store that sells mostly "all natural" items. Thought for sure they would carry it but they don't so I will just have to check out all the stores around here.

For some weird reason the natural baby foods don't carry pure meat baby food I'm not sure why, unless we're trying to turn our little sweeties (skin kids) into vegetarians . ciao

A friend of mine gets hers at Walmart. I believe the brand is Gerbers

If you have the choice between Gerber and Beechnut, the Beechnut is better. The Gerber has some kind of starch if I remember correctly, while the Beechnut is purely meat and water.

Not really....Mine never seem to stay in the cupboard long enough . I think as long as the seal isn't broken, it can stay for the same amount of time as canned goods ciao

I checked my cans and they were bought a few months ago and have an expiration date of April 2012, so yes, it would be worth it to keep a few cans around. I always have chicken, turkey and beef Beechnut brand around. At a dollar a piece, why not?
