So we just got a new baby last nite! She was a suprise anniversary present from my husband. I was trying to read up on the care of a baby ferret as we have never had a baby before and already im a worry wart! Right now she is on a soupie diet. I took the Zupreem dry food mixed it with warm water and a bit of gerber chicken baby food and blended it. And she LOVES it! So now that Sozi has seen her eating it, Now she wants it also LOL had a heck of a time getting her to touch it before silly ferret So I am signed up waiting on a mentor but in the meantime.. Is it ok to just feed a soupie diet? Meaning no hard kibble at all? Only Kibble being whats in the soupie.. I also had some cubes froze up of chicken thigh, beef liver and chicken gizzards and tossed one of those cubes in the soupie mix this morning. I just want to be sure we are properly caring for our new little baby and if it is definetly ok to just do soupie 2 or 3 or what ever times per day for feedings. I do hope to get a mentor in the future and get both girls on a raw diet Thanks for any help to a very confused ferrant lol

I know that sick ferrets seem to be ok with just soup for a few months, but I have never done it with a healthy carpet shark. I will wait to see what those who have been at this for a while have to say so I know too!

Congrats on the new furbaby! What a wonderful hubby you've got Why not just chop up some chicken, and get her started right away? They're never to young for raw. Most breeders will start the 3 week old kits off with a raw meat mush, then move them up to regular meat once they start getting teeth in.

Go for it My Napoleon was eating whole raw at 7 weeks. They're never too young. When his batch of kits came in they were still not eating whole kibbles yet (some kind of stinky mush made up of kibbles and eck ) I put Napoleon in the travelling cage with Mischief (the old fuzz-fellow that chose him) and Mischief's food was in there. Here was my new furbaby chowing down on raw food as we were going out the check out to pay for him. He was making all sorts of growly noises and would hiss whenever someone would try and take it away. The people at the pet store were sure that he was going to drop dead right there in front of them but he wasn't going to give up his meal to anyone I remember an old fellow standing in the line up behind me, laughing and saying that it was the first real food that baby had probably eaten since they took him from his momma. He also mentioned that he wanted to see the person who was brave enough to take the food away from my new little furbrat . ciao
