Someone suggested horse pellets for the litter box. Thank you they are cheap and perfect.

They are compressed wood pulp. You can(I think) pick them up in most feed stores.

they are also called wood stove pellets and used for pellet burning wood stoves. they are great! just make sure you don't get the ones that are held together with glue.

As stove pellets, they are seasonal in warmer climates -- but around here even Wal-Mart carries them. We get them from the local pellet stove supplier for $4 / 40lb bag. I don't use them in the play area litter box because they do tend to track sawdust, but for my high-sided FN box they're fantastic.
If you're happy with your litter, they can make a fun dig box option too. My boys had a fantastic time throwing them around for a few days when we first switched!
