I'm new to this forum and glad I found it because it strengthened my resolve to switch to a raw diet for my Ferrets. A little about myself I live in Utah, have three children and three ferrets and I love spending time with all of them. My kids have been bugging me for years to get pets but it has been hard to find pets that fit into our family the top two don't work because I'm allergic to cats and my 10 year old daughter is afraid of dogs. That meant we had to look beyond the normal choices I had a ferret years ago and loved it so they were high on my list of alternate choices but we did months of research and visits to pet stores and pounds before we got these guys. we ended up getting 2 to start with and everyone just loved them a couple weeks ago I found out the local humane society had an unusually large number of ferrets in the shelter so we went and got Chloie too. We were told she was violent and aggressive by the shelter workers but I did not believe it so I took my two boys down and let them all have a visit together and they got along beautifully so now we have a ferret for each child not very computer literate but trying to post photos Houdini Chloie Bandit Also hoping to swich to raw as soon as posible can I make my own swiching thread even without a mentor ?

Hi and welcome to you and yours Please feel free to prowl around read through the various threads in the sections, ask questions....every one here is friendly. No, you don't have to have a mentor to start switching your furbabies to raw. If you have questions post in the nutritional section either the general or the newbie questions. This will get you a response from a number of knowledgeable people. If you want a mentor please sign up but I strongly suggest while waiting for your mentor prowl through the mentoring section, see if there's a recipe that you might like to try. Check out the different methods that have been used and see if any might appeal to you and your furkids. Most of all, have fun, get involved. It's a great learning adventure ciao

Hi, and welcome! So glad you took little Choie home with you So many people who don't understand ferrets consider them vicious when they see them doing a war dance, so I'm not to surprised by that. Looking forward to hearing about your munchkins, and seeing more pics!

Looking forward to hearing about your munchkins, and seeing more pics! I think she just wanted to play and the other ferrets in the shelter were older and wanted to sleep more than she did but I still cant believe how hard they tried to talk me into adopting one of the other ferrets they had there. I'm so glad we got her, she is the sweetest little thing and fits in perfectly with our boys also because a day after we got her all the other ferrets disappeared from their website listings I hope to good homes but as they are not a no kill facility I kind of doubt it

Shame you could not have brought them all home. I understand about finances and such, of course there is the chance they might not have let you what with everyone so afraid of hoarders. When people find out I have 2 cats and 5 snakes (prior to bringing home the ferts) I was called a hoarder until it was checked out. All my pets are healthy and clean and all that good stuff hoarded pets are NOT. Thank you for helping where you can and I hope a ferret rescue pulled those other ferrets.
