I'm trying to get my baby to eat meat but she is being picky. She will eat baby food meats without any issues but I'm having a hard time getting her to eat anything else. Well, besides her dry food of course. I'm giving them to her everyday still hoping she will start to like them. Any ideas? Tonight I mixed her baby food and the raw chix hearts/gizzards to see if that helps. She took a couple licks so far. Why is she so picky, I thought they love this over dry food. I am reading the book "Ferrets for Dummies" too hoping I will learn more there too. Attachments:

You don't mention how old your little one is. Sometimes this can be a factor in switching. How big are the pieces that you're trying to convince your little one to eat? Beginning pieces should be no bigger than the tip of your fingernail if they're being difficult about trying this new food. You've got the right idea about sticking it in her babyfood as this is something she recognises and likes. There are a couple of reasons why she might be giving you trouble and taste and texture being 2 major reasons. Ferrets don't necessarily care for people messing with their diets so sometimes it takes a little more than just offering them this to eat Have you prowled through some of the mentoring threads? There is a wealth of information in there. Don't give up, you just haven't quite find the correct mix for your little one ciao

She is 14 wks old. I cut the meat up in small pieces. Tonight I chopped them up in my blender. I've done cooked and raw. I made her scrambled eggs too tonight. I rubbed it in her mouth, and she spit it out at me. lol I understand it takes time like any baby, I just want her to be healthy.

Keep offering and doing different methods. Once she gets the idea, you will then be asking us how to stop her ciao

Try leaving the kibble out of her cage for about 5-6 hours, and give her a puree from you're finger. That might go over better than pieces for her.

Ah I don't want to starve her. lol I will try though. She really loves baby food so maybe I can add it in. How often do I feed her meats and baby food on top of her eating kibble?

You won't be starving her- don't worry She'll just act like you are, with those big eyes they've got! When she's been without the kibble for a while, take her out, and offer the tiny kibble sized bits of meat mixed in with the baby food, see if she'll take it that way. If not, puree the raw, and mix a bit in with the baby food. At her age, she should take about a tablespoon before her tummy is full. Give her back the kibble about an hour or so after that, and leave it with her til a few hours before you're ready to try feeding her the raw again. Mine had their kibble left out of the cage all night, and I'd give them the raw in the morning. Most of them were ready to at least try it
