Cynova died quietly sometime in the past few hours. He was snuggled in his sleep sack, next to his brother Armad - the only companion he really knew.
This pisses me off so much. He didn't have to die! This all could have possibly been prevented if my roommate had just listened to me and taken him to the vet. If she had cared, even a little, he could still be alive, dooking and munching and sleeping soundly with his friend. Tears are streaming down my face right now as I type this, because I feel like /I/ didn't do enough. I could have taken him to the vet. I could have called and seen what I could have done. But I left it to her, thinking maybe seeing her ferret struggling to breathe would convince her that something was wrong, and now Cynova is dead.
Poor Armad. He is ok right now, but once he realizes that his "brother" isn't coming back to the cage, I don't know what is going to happen.
Hopefully she realizes now that ferrets aren't a vanity pet. Hopefully she'll put a little more heart into the furchild that she has left.

Poor Cynova, may you find peace and happiness at the Rainbow Bridge. <3
I am filled with so much sorrow over this, I can't believe it turned out this way.
Please, don't beat yourself up over this. It's different when the animal is yours, and totally different when it's someone else's. It's hard to believe that someone wouldn't take the initiative and take care of their pet, especially in a situation like this. You tried to get her to understand, and you worked hard at that. <3
My heart goes to you and to Armad, I hope he can weather this loss and keep on dooking. I also hope that your roommate wakes up and realizes that these are animals that need her care.

I saw your post on stupidpetowners Zoshi. It's a shame that it had to end like this.
Thanks for the condolences.

I'm sooo sorry. It's never easy to watch. Consider it a journey of learning. Your roommate, will not change her path, she has already set her colours. This was your journey. I don't hold you responsible, please don't think that was what I"m saying. You will now have to decide what you're going to do about her though. She will continue to collect pets and dispose of them as she becomes bored with them. Those types of people never change, but you have I will light a healing rainbow candle for you. A white candle is lit for Cynova, to guide him on his journey. The path is long but there are many there to help him and to greet him when he finally gets there. I'm sure that my Nicodemus, would love to see him. Nico always did seem to be the softy to take in the lost ones and would love to share his soft nest with Cynova. Poor little Cynova, you are now a bright star in the sky....poor little lost ferret, who do you dream of when you sleep Goodbye little one, you will be missed....you were loved.. ciao

I'm not sure what I am going to do with her Heather. I've contemplated surrendering Armad. I've contemplated calling animal control. Talking to her landlord (once I've moved out so I don't risk losing my furry ones too). Many many things, none of which I can really do until the fiance and I are out of here, since if she kicks us out, we literally have nowhere else to go. Now that he is working though, that will hopefully be soon. In the meanwhile, I will hope to god that this has knocked some sense into my roommate, and continuing doing what I can to help that poor little ferret keep kicking.

I hope you take poor Armad with you when you do move out. Talking to the landlord could end badly for Armad. If you can't keep him I do hope you take him and find him a home. This person is not worth having a friendship with.

I'm definitely planning on taking him, no matter what.

Rest in peace baby boy. You are no longer in pain, and are finally free. Hopefully you and the SO will soon get a place, and be able to take Armand with you.

Are you and your fiance on the lease, or just her? Why can't you guys kick her out? There are 2 of you and one of her! lol I am sorry the little guy had to die, and I wish the best for Armad.

No, she and her husband (aka: pet human) are on the lease, and my fiance and I are just "residents" (on the lease, but have no say really.

I am sorry. What did her husband have to say about the whole thing out of curiosity? I hope that you guys are able to get out of there soon and take poor Armad with you.

He was upset. Cynova was "his" ferrets, while Armad is "hers". He has no spine though. She has him whipped. So, he didn't say anything about it.

Wow... I think HE needs to get out of there too! lmao What a mess! Maybe you can convince him to give Armad to a shelter or to you or someone somehow?
