Alright, I am extremely excited to be a member of this forum and to learn new and exciting things to better the lives of my fuzzbutts. I was told as a precaution that when feeding raw it is best to remove the kibble 4 hours before feeding. Only because, raw digests faster than kibble and if there is kibble in their stomach it will slow down the raw and can allow bacteria to colonize (at the normal digestion rate this doesnt happen). I wouldn't doubt this being a true statement, but is it that bad of an idea to mix raw and kibble together? I was hoping to make a soup out of their kibble, luke warm water and raw boneless chicken breasts tonight, but this truly frightened me. I don't want my fuzzies getting sick if this is the case. After they get used to eating raw food I plan to take out the kibble all together, but by me just starting to get them used to the raw through mixing of the two I hope this won't cause them to get sick. If I am able to mix the two say into a blender to make a soup, how long do you believe it should be aloud to sit out for if it all isn't eaten right away? I plan to visit the mentor section after posting this, but can someone just answer that for me. I'd really appreciate it and so would the kids. Thanks so much! :]

That's ok! And I'll answer it anyway for anyone else reading Since the kibble is wet in soup, it doesn't make any difference. The problem is when the kibble is dry, and it slows everything down in the stomach til the acids dissolve it. Since that can take a bit, some digestive upsets can occur.

Small amounts of kibble as an enticement to eat raw is fine. What we don't want to see is a belly/digestive system full of kibble and then a raw meal coming along behind it.
Also any kibble that is moistened in any way has the very real possibility of developing mycotoxins which is a naturally occurring fungal by-product that can cause disease and death. Take up any uneaten moistened kibble within 30 minutes.
