I was at Hobby Lobby a few days ago and they had some of the Easter stuff 50% off, including plastic eggs. I'd been trying to think of something to put in a new dig box that wouldn't be too messy if it got tossed out of the box. So I started thinking that maybe they'd like to play in the eggs (the smooth texture and the noise). I bought 10 bags of the smaller eggs (200 eggs) for less than $4. They adore them!!

I made up a dig box for mine of both plastic eggs, as well as ping pong balls, and yes, they love them! So, great idea!

I LOVE the idea of having them in those drawers! So much tidier, and much easier to just move them out of the way

Yeah, my kids love it just as much as I do. i just shut the doors after playtime and maybe pick up five or six eggs that fell from the hole i made in the second shelf for the kids to crawl between levels and ta-da!!! very rarely does the rice fly around everywhere and out of the box. Its perfect!!!

Agreed! What size are you using? I would imagine they are fairly big? Sorry- I use rubbermaid tubs right now, and they are large, and a pain in the patukas to have to haul around when I switch up the toys Hey- it might actually be an idea to have two. Then you could just pull and replace drawers to give them a new play area. Have one set with rice, plastic eggs, another with shredded paper, sand etc., and just switch up the drawers for different weekly stimulation.

I want to say its this one right here... www.amazon.com/dp/B000MPQ2S2/ref=asc_df_B000MPQ2S21070988?tag=the004-20&creative=380333&creativeASIN=B000MPQ2S2&linkCode=asnI don't have the wheels on it, but the drawers are fairly large. The whole container is 24h x 15w x 22l. & the drawers themselves are 15l x 20w (inches). I got it for 17.50? from Walmart, but at biglots its like 16 even. That'd be a great idea to have two to switch out, but I already have two and the second one contains all of my scrapbooking stuff in it. & I don't really have the room for a third but that'd be a great idea if you had the room for another. I cant remember if the wheels have locks on them, but if you were to put the wheels on it'd be great to easily roll in and out of say the closet for playtime and easily hidden when its not in use. :] No more lugging around large totes full of heavy rice and sand. Paper & eggs are no problem, but the other stuff gets pretty heavy.

Chelseamae, YOU ROCK!!! Just last night I got a dresser for my girls and didn't know what to do with their old plastic bins that they were using. I have a set already for the ferrets that I use to store their wood pellets and their other stuff, but now I have another set of deep drawers (2) that will be perfect for new dig boxes! **Squeals in excitement!**
