1. Where did you first learn about natural diets for ferrets?
From my friend Toyi aka Weezlemum
2. Please describe the type of diet you would like assistance in switching your ferret(s) to. Be sure to include if you are interested in feeding whole prey (live or frozen-thawed) and if you are wanting to FULLY switch to a natural diet or PARTIALLY. If you are unsure what kind of diet you want to put your ferrets on, please express that and we can help you find the best type of natural diet for your ferret.
I want to fully switch them to an all natural raw diet. I wasn't sure what meats were safe, how much of a type of meat.. etc. I would prefer not to feed live or f/t.. I have a hard time watching another animal tear into another (dead or alive).. I have a snake that eats f/t as it is.. I would like to be able to just purchase my meats at the market and be able to find the perfect balance for my 2.
3. Why are you interested in switching your ferrets to a natural diet?
I was doing alot of reading online and read that the natural diet was much more healthier for them in the long run.. Plus I found it cheaper then what i'm spending now on kibble alone.. I know that feeding Raw to dogs has helped tremendously, and I want the same for my kits.
4. Do you understand that switching your ferret to a natural diet can be a lengthy, arduous process? Its not an overnight switch. It can be a commitment of several weeks or even months. Your HF Mentor will be more then happy to assist you in switchng your ferret(s) to a natural diet, but you need to be equally as commited. If you aren't willing to tough out a potentially lengthy switching process, or if you have major life changes approaching (baby on the way, moving, starting school, getting married/divorced, etc) then it might be a better idea to wait on switching your ferret's diet until you have more time. Are you willing to make the commitment?
Absolutely!
5. How many ferrets do you currently have? What are their names? Ages? Genders? Do they have any health problems? Are they overweight? Underweight?
I have 2 ferrets.. There is Cleopatra (female) and about 4 months old. Then there is Jack (male) and he's about 5 months old. They so far don't have any health problems and seem to be at a pretty healthy weight.
6. What diet do you currently feed your ferrets? (Please include all treats, supplements, etc)
They were eatting Natural Balance Ultra Premium Cat Food mixed with 8 in 1 Ultra-Blend for Ferrets (before I knew how bad it was for them). And for treats Marshall's Bandits Meaty Bacon Flavor Treats and 8 in 1 Ferret Bites (Peanut Butter). Right now my kits are in the transition of being switched over (just started this week).. I feed them a blend of ground beef, chicken, whole egg and blend it to make a duck soup. They are starting to eat that pretty good (except I do have to add in some kibble, not much, to get them to first take the plunge). They will only eat pieces of chicken if it is lathered in the soup mix.
7. Have you ever tried to switch your ferrets to a natural diet in the past? If yes, what happened?
Just recently.
8. What additional information about yourself or your ferrets would you like to share?
I am a stay at home mom, so my ferts get about 10 hrs a day out of their cage for play time.. Don't really know what else to say.
9. How often during the week do you have access to a computer?
All day, every day!
10. Please post a picture of each of your ferrets (if possible).
