Hello everyone, I'm Beth and I've been the proud caretaker of a little boy named Percy for about 2 weeks. I was cruising around picking up as much info as I could about ferrets and from all the reading I've done about raw feeding I've decided to go for it! So after a bit more reading I'll be signing up for the mentor program soon as well I also care for 3 rattie boys (Marco, Dondarrion, Sampson), a mouse (Charles), and a leopard gecko named Booker. I'm really looking forward to getting to know everyone Some more pics of Percy.. (This one's my fav )

Hi, and welcome! Congrats on your little fertie He looks adorable. Good idea about signing up for a mentor. We have people graduating all the time, so we should be able to get you in soon. In the interim- keep reading. Particularly the nutrition section, and please feel free to check out the switching threads to give you some ideas of how to start.

Hello back from Ontario Please feel free to prowl the site and read through the various threads and ask questions. Everyone is friendly and usually quick to answer any querries you might have. As Sherrylynne mentioned check out the mentoring section, read through some of their files. This might give you an idea as to not only where to start but where you want to go with you little Percy (who is absolutely adorable ) Do take care with Percy and your other little charges as they are what is often considered dinner by ferty types. Good luck and I hope that I will be seeing you around ciao

I'm doing as much reading as I can My boyfriend is annoyed that now I spend hours reading and he has to amuse himself. But he'll survive I'm sure. And I am very careful with all my little guys. Rats are a natural predator of mice as well so everyone has their own seperate out time... Well except for my fish Percy is acutally going in for a minor surgery tomorrow. He had a pre existing ear hematoma when I got him that still hasn't shrunk in size. He's going in to have it drained and be mircochipped in the morning. It should only take 10mins but he still has to go under anesthetic So please send good vibes his way!

Keeping fingers crossed for Percy! I know it's a simple surgery, but any anesthetic is scary!

Ok so.. The vet went to drain the fluid and discovered that the mass was actually cartilage :/ But Percy is fine and he was microchipped without incident! I'm going to start a thread in health about his situation.
