Do you normally leave in a bowl of raw food in the cage for your ferrets if they're just starting to eat it?
We've just started mixing in a bit of raw in the ferret's diet and have been taking it out after about half an hour. Is it okay to leave it longer? Should I take it out sooner? It's a mix of raw meat, kibble and a little water

As long as you have kibble in the mix it is best to err on the cautious side. Moistened kibble can very quickly become a breeding ground for mycotoxins. Mycotoxins are a fungal by-product from the use of grains in kibble. They can cause disease and death in our fuzzums.
Once you get the kbble out of there you can leave meat out for much, much longer. I leave hunks of meat out for 24 hours. If it goes bad or gets too dried out for their taste they won't eat it. Remember, ferrets stash food away once they're full, so it stands to reason that they are well equipped to eat food that has hung around for a while.
