I know I havent been around much lately, life has been busy... Im only a few months away from graduating, and Ive been trying to find a job, plus we are trying to find a new house.... So theres lots of stuff going on.
Not sure if anyone remembers, but my mom hated the whole "raw diet" thing becuase she thought it was gross and that there was no need to feed them that because all the cats she had were fed cheap store brand kibble and they were all "healthy".
Recently, her favorite cat's (Simba) mouth started looking weird. His lip kind of stuck in and his bottom tooth went out over it.
I looked at his teeth, to find that he had lost one (right fang).
I showed my mom the missing tooth, plus all of his other teeth which are disgustingly dirty and nasty looking. So caved in, and said that she'd be willing to give raw diet a shot with him. Yes, hes going to the vet anyways to get the tooth checked out.
So, from what Ive heard switching cats is much much harder than switching dogs. Ive switched 1 dog and 3 ferrets total now, so I have some expericence with it, but Ive never fed raw to a cat.
A little about Simba...
Hes aprox 10+ years old, we've had him since he was a kitten.
He is an indoor/outdoor cat, is VERY overweight, and has been eating Friskies and store brand cat food his whole life.
One advantage, he does like raw hamburger. Whenever anyone is cooking or if the ferrets or Bailey are having raw hamburger we always save a little chunk for Simba to eat. He really seems to like it, so I think that might help a little with the switching process.
Anyone have any advice to help me switch him?
