So, because of my upcoming move to Georgia for school, and how hectic things have been in my boyfriends life, things haven't been easy. Neither of us have been able to find jobs, his mom had to move and so he's been desperate to find a job and an apartment.
Some very good things have happened in the last week though! My boyfriend found a job, the application for his apartment went through and he's been moving in. I've moved up on the housing waiting list for a spot in a dorm, almost 40 places in a little over a week, so I'm a little less worried even though there are still more than 200 people ahead of me.
However, there has been a sad development. The apartment complex he's moved into has a no pets policy of the retarded "you can't even have an aquarium" variety. Not only that, any pets discovered by maintenance people, etc means a $600 charge and must be immediately gotten rid of. Even though we were fairly certain to begin with that they allowed caged pets (no one would have to know how much time our ferts DIDN'T spend in the cage). So, my estimate of being able to afford to adopt a ferret or two by January-ish doesn't even matter now.
It will be a year before his lease is up, and after moving twice in less than a year he was hoping to stay in one place for more than a year. Since not moving seems to be whats important to him, not pets of his own (his dog, sisters dog, and the cat at his mom's 40 minutes away work for him), unless I get my own place after my year in the dorms at college, I won't be getting ferrets or any other pets any time soon. I really, really wish I hadn't gotten so excited by the prospect of pets of my own again. Getting excited is where I get myself into trouble!
