Does anyone have any info on resveratrol and pets and/or ferrets? Casey's Hidden Pantry can carry these: www.beckerbites.com/category/our-products/petsveratrol/ and was wondering if we should pick them up. we have 2 with insulinoma, and 3 with adrenal. If their claims are true "potential to prevent and slow the rate of cancer growth in our four-legged friends. Due to resveratrol’s anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties, the National Cancer Institute states that lab tests have shown to actually reduce tumor growth by affecting one or more stages of cancer development and that it seems to restrain cancer cell growth."I want to give these a go with my ferrets! Also, I was looking at the wellness bites, specifically the Gut/GI meds (http://www.beckerbites.com/2009/10/22/gutgi-wellness-bites/) wondering how they would do with the ferret community as well. I like that the slippery elm already contained. We can add them to our soups (since mine like soups) and they are getting a bit of slippery elm in each slurp. Obviously, CHP wouldn't carry these products at those prices! You know us - we're dirt cheap. But overall, what do you think? Do any of Dr Becker's products sound intriguing besides what I've mentioned?

Another quote from the same site:
Dr. Robert Sclafani, the Chair of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department at CU Denver says, “There’s no doubt! If you feed an animal this stuff, they’re going to get less cancer.”
And a link to the use of resveratrol in a study showing cigarette smoke's effect on ferret's lungs. (http://jn.nutrition.org/cgi/content/full/133/1/173) But honestly, it is too technical for me to understand.

To be honest, for me the problem is remembering to give them stuff like this in their meals I've already gotten a couple items before, and they are still sitting, only partially used. It does sound like it might be worthwhile, though.

jojodancer, the Resveratrol sounds like a great product. The shaker actually interested me more than the bites because it would be easily shaken into soups. I'd definately by something like this, with a little more research into the ingredient to make sure it wasn't at all dangerous to use in ferrets and in what amounts.
