I don't think there is any problem with using fleece. I know I use it with my rats, and if you think about it, a lot of hammocks and stuff are made of fleece.

Love that purple its cute. Most people use fleece for their ferret cages. I get sets made with fleece/cotton print reverse. The hammocks are always lined with fleece. I personally wouldn't get a twin dish, they are all lightweight (that I have seen anyway) and will most likely end up flipped and cause a mess. I personally prefer stainless steel and heavy ceramic bowls. I can only use stainless steel lock on bowls in the cage because they can flip even the heavy ceramic bowls. I do not like using plastic dishes because unless they say they don't they all contain BPA which can leach out into food and water which has been linked to cancer and certain disorders. www.blogtactic.com/2009/03/bisphenol-bpa-avoid-using-plastic-type.htmlwww.sierraclubgreenhome.com/go-green/tips-to-turn-your-pet-into-a-greenie/ (number 3 in dinnertime section) A large number or people still choose to use them even after knowing the possible harmful effects but I don't want to take the chance. Don't know if you were planning too but you might want to put something next to the litter box so your fuzzy won't go potty there.

Oh, darn. And I just bought that locking dish so it isn't able to be tipped. Thanks though. EDIT: I just went on the manufacturer's website and they state that their products are BPA free.
And I was planning on covering all corners with bedding or something plush. Especially beside the litter box! lol

Oh wow really? Thats a good thing for sure. I figured it would take the pet companies longer to phase out the BPA dishes. Which company makes them so I can reccomend them to others?

Are they lixit brand? I went to the site and they say the bottles are BPA free but I don't see anything about the bowls. I did just wake up though so it might be right in front of myface. I'm going to shoot them an e-mail.

It is Lixit brand, but now that you mention it, it does say the bottles are BPA free... Hmm, I'll send them an email as well.

I received an email stating that their crock dishes are also BPA free. Yay, I don't need to replace mine.

It's so... clean!!! Too bad it doesn't stay that way! It looks great, and the crocks should be fine! I use the stainless steel ones Jessica (WeLoveOurWeasels) mentioned to me and I love them! I had plastic ones, and one of the dishes kind of rotted in like, a month so I decided only stainless! Jasper is a pig, though, (he ruined the dish) so don't worry about it. The only suggestion I can make is to contact Midwest about replacing the shelf that you have. It's the older model shelf that catches ferret toes easier than the newer model. They should be more than happy to replace it for free. If you go to Midwest's contact us page, email them directly with the email on that page, because I never got contacted back when I just filled out the form. Also give them the picture to prove you have the old shelf.
