So my dude TWO ;D Has been puking once in a while (3 times in the last four days). It's clear but has had meat chunks in it. He's pooped once since the puking episode has happened and its fairly normal. I've started transitioning him to a raw diet. Could him getting used to real meat have anything to do with the throwing up He's still really active and eating food on his own and isn't pawing at his mouth or anything like that. Waiting for a mentor to help me with this sort of stuff so in the meantime asking the forums in general ^^; Oh also: the raw pieces he's eating are minced up chicken thighs bone in and everything. I've chopped up the bone to moderate sizes but could a larger piece cause an obstruction or something? Oh also: Now mink puked too. I think it's because she's been porking down the chicken leg bits though. She ate nearly half of the food I put down for the morning and she's the smallest.

It could be transitioning but ferrets vomiting isn't a good thing. I would sooner have you here complaining that your little ones were having loose poops than vomiting. Now, we've had a couple of ferrets who overate when they first started. You mentioned he's only pooped once....are you saying he's only pooped once in four (4) days?? Even on raw that's not good. You mention that he's still eating and is active...that doesn't sound like a sick ferret....it could be that he's not digesting his food or eating it too fast. Fill us in with a little more info. How long after eating is he throwing up? Is the meat partially digested? They both should be pooping when they wake and after meals. The size of the bone probably won't be causing the problem, more likely them learning how to digest the new meats. Do you have some pumpkin on hand? See if you can get some pumpkin into them, to see if it will help them digest some of these new foods. There is often some difficulty in the transition (not always). Are you in a position to feed them a couple of pieces of meat and then wait for a little bit and then offer them some more after they've had time to digest a bit. If you can, let us know if that helps Keep us posted. ciao

Lol no he's pooped once today and twice again since I made that post. I've made the decision to put him on soup in order to make it easier for him to digest.
He threw up a little after he ate maybe half an hour ago and there were a couple of small pieces of meat in there. Otherwise he's acting like himself and eating and drinking normally.

Sounds almost like he's eating too fast or too much??? Is he eating this on is own or are you feeding him? If he's eating on his own, do you measure the amounts...perhaps you can feed him a little less and see if he's gorging, you can feed him more a little later. ciao

It might be that he's eating too fast. I've been feeding him by spoon and pretty much let him eat off it till he doesn't want to anymore. I've noticed the couple of times he's thrown up is if he's gone really hyper after he's eaten so I've put him in the cage for a nappy after and it seems to have helped. He hasn't puked since I've started that. Keeping a really close eye on him.

I think i may have lied :/ Last time he ate he ate MAYBE a tablespoon and puked up about half an hour later. It looks like it's a vet trip.

You may have a food sensitivity too. I just wrote a bit in the health section. Is he eating normally if he doesn't eat the chicken?? If you feel the least bit stressed by all means take him to the vet. Is your vet raw friendly? ciao

I don't know if my vet is raw friendly but I DO highly suspect a food sensitivity. He just had a GINORMO (And I mean Ginormo) poop after he ate the EVO and it was not really hard persay but it was well formed and stayed together. YAY For ginormo poops! I'm a LOT less worried it's a blockage now. He ate his evo and didn't puke at all and also is eating+drinking fine as well as being playful ect ect. Should I steer clear of the chicken? It's a little saddening as I don't really have access to other meats +their organs. Just the muscle meat and some really hard bones. Should I just keep him on EVO?

How closely are the two different foods being given? Some ferrets develop digestive upsets when kibble and raw are fed too closely together.

I took the kibble away completely before giving the raw because I read that happens.

It is most likely a food sensitivity/allergy then. Try leaving the chicken out entirely, see how he does with that/
