Zoe was hacking a few minutes ago, I think maybe cause a little piece of her dinner went down the wrong way. Remembering that olive oil would help smooth things out, I ran to the cabinet and looked around. No olive oil - instead peanut oil and generic vegetable oil.
I grabbed the peanut oil and poured about half a teaspoon to give her. She licked it right up, and isn't hacking anymore. I just checked on her again, and she was in her hammock relaxing. I opened the cage door and she perked right up as if to say, "thanks mom! I'm feeling a lot better now!"
Now that the hacking is over though, I'd like to know if peanut oil would be ok to give her again in a situation like this. The only ingredients on the list are peanut oil and vitamin E.

It's probably okay, but generally I say to use an animal-based oil (like salmon oil) since it is easier for them to utilize fully. I don't know what the incidence of peanut allergies are in ferrets but keep an eye out if she seems itchier than usual. I know many ferrets have sensitivities to other plant-based oils, like flax seed oil. Also, peanut oil is pretty expensive comparatively to other plant-based oils!
