I was thinking, its always so difficult to find inexpensive great toys for the furkids so why dont we swap some info on all ferrety toys imaginable, especially ones that arent made for ferrets
list the type of toy you have found, where you got it and roughly how much it costs, if their is a variation of the toy for the same or similar price
here is my great find, all 3 of my fuzzies absolutely love it
it costs $2.13 without tax
3 piece hard rubber dog toy set which includes a barbell with a bell inside, a ball with a bell inside and a ring
I got it at walmart. I've been to multiple walmarts in virginia (my whole family works for walmart corp) and every store i have been to has this set
there are 2 other sets i have found at the same price. one set has a bone shaped hard rubber toy instead of the barbell. the other set has a horseshoe shaped hard rubber toy instead of a barbell

I dig through the Clearance racks at Pet Co whenever I go there. I found a really cute stuffed little banana pair for like 70 cents and some other stuff all for under $2 each. It is hit and miss though, sometimes they have cute stuff, other times it is all junk.

I usually hit up the clearance racks too at Petco and Petsmart (heading there tonight for some cat food) and just like you said it's usually hit or miss, I'm hoping that they'll be some good stuff tonight! I just recently took the stickers off of a few medicine bottles (the brown and white ones from the pharmacy) and filled them half way with jingle bells from the craft store. So far they're a hit because they roll and make noise...

Some of mine adore the door knob toys($7 here)! They continually try to grab and stash them. Those and the cat dancer toys(These vary in price).

Checked out the clearance last night when I went to get more litter. I found a hard rubber dumb bell with a rattle in the end(s) and a green feathery thing-a-majig. I also found this awesome little frog toy. It reminds me of an accordion-style baby toy (the ones that you pull down and they slowly go up while playing music) only it doesn't actually pull. It has a big stuffed head with a squeaker in it, then a flat, accordion type middle, and a hard ball at the end (covered in the same material as the rest of the toy). The whole thing is really soft and super cute. Well, I gave it to Koda last night and he LOVED it!!!! ;D He spent forever wrestling it, and because of the heavy ball in one end it would get some momentum when he threw it and thus "wrestle" back with him. haha It was super cute.

This is a closely supervised toy, but my girl LOVES bouncy balls, like the ones found in quarter machines next to gumballs. My brother sent me some to cheer me up after poor D'Artagnan passed (there's a long story behind why he thought they'd cheer me up, involving a New Year's celebration, large quantities of champagne and a thousand bouncy balls ). I was bouncing them off the walls and she started doing her war dance and snatching them. It's one of her favorite games now, but I count how many balls I have at the start and end then hunt down any missing balls, because when they stop bouncing they're apparently more interesting to chew. Another free favorite toy/game is chase the bag. I keep a plastic bag tied to the dog's leash and she was out one day when the dog was still attached to the leash. Hilarity ensued. Now she's only allowed to chase the bag when I'm the one dragging it. Tennis balls are good too, either the $0.99 ones from Petsmart or scavenged ones from tennis courts. She likes the size (makes her feel strong, I think ) and the texture on her paws and in her mouth. My most recent investment is this foraging cup www.birdsafestore.com/Products/Seek-and-Find-Foraging-6-pack__CFS-SAF1.aspx. I got it at Petsmart. It's about $10, but I've given it to her three times now, without having to change the box. You can adjust the level of difficulty by altering where you place the treats. Blessed relief when she's up to no good!

Another cheapo keep the fuzz entertained thing... After the Christmas morning opening present frenzy I kept all of the wrapping paper, tore it up and made balls of varying sizes and filled up an empty box with them. The Fuzz love digging around in the box and removing the balls of paper and stashing them under anything they can get them under! They also like the pre-made bows that you get in the package of 50 or so... I discovered this when bows started disappearing from presents before Christmas morning!

my fuzzies love the bows also. I take the sticker part off before giving it to them. I was planning on giving them wrapping paper balls but never got around to it

Cassi LOVES easter eggs. The plastic kind that pop open to hide stuff inside. Gotta watch them with them though, Cassi gnaws hers to shreds and we replace them often to make sure she's not eating plastic.
She loves to chase them around the floor, she'll do this for hours. And she likes to dig them out of her rice dig box.

I use those as well, but crochet a cover, and put some beans inside for a rattle!

My guys love their crochet eggs. The coverings prevents them from chewing the plastic to pieces and also allows them to better grab and carry them around. ciao

most of my gangs "toys" are carboot finds (flea market or yard sale for the americans) all our nest boxes and feeding dens... cat gym, pop up hampers tipped on the side and hung from the ceiling as hiding and bedding places...
also Hubby works for the water company and gets us lots of land drain for tubes and tunnels of various sizes and shapes.. several of my friends keep an eye open for construction sites.. they always order more than neccessary so they go ask the guys if they can have any offcuts of land drain or cable tubes etc...
carpet stores have to pay to get rid of the long cardboard centers... perfect tunnels and they'll often give them to you for free as well...
All blankets and bedding come from carboots or charity shops... old fleece sweatshirts or baby blankets cushion covers or pillow cases make fabulous hammocks and pocket beds and the like...
i dont think i've spent over £5 for ANYTHING for my ferrets .. nor would i.. i prefer to put that extra money into the vet fund because i know my gang love the toys and things they have just as much.. if not better than some of the store bought stuff... and i refuse to line the pockets of big pet store businesses who have little to NO knowledge or care for the animals they supposedly cater for unless absolutely neccessary...

Where can I get some crocheted eggs? I've tried to teach myself how to crochet and I am horrible at it. Lorelei your not alone with hunting at flea markets and yard sales. Thats where alot of my fuzzies toys come from, or just from stuff around the house. I use one of the $2.39 blankets cut into 4ths to cover their cage shelfs. its the most inexpensive and durable solution i have found. Also large fleece blankets from walmart work great for the large shelfs. I got 3 of them at walmart for $4.00 each and they are very fluffy.
Tigger's favorite toy is an empty bottle of wild turkey filled with rice. Her mouth fits perfectly around the neck of the bottle.
other places like good will and salvation army tend to have a lot of inexpensive kids toys that work well for ferrets.
