Hi all!
Here's my situation: I have the FN 142 with an added third level. That takes it as high as I can reach. It's huge, but not quite huge enough. Our business somehow got to be 13 ferrets. So, we bought another FN - the 141 singe level. That should give us enough room, but I want to have the two cages side by side - with access between them. Has anyone done this? The only way that I can think of is to cut (ack!) some of the bars on each cage, then install a piece of PVC pipe between them. I'm not crazy about chopping up the cages though - any ideas?
Thanks!

The way I've seen it done was by simply removing the side panels and using zip ties around the frame to hold the two together. Is it Jennifer here that has several connected FNs? I think she was about to make a thread on it.

I think she was about to make a thread on it. I hadn't thought of that! I suppose that the cages are sturdy enough to absorb weight - three sides instead of four. Worst case, I could rig a support piece in the middle, if necessary. Thanks!

If both cages have multiple doors, can you connect the two cages by using a tunnel from the doors? My bro in law rigged a tunnel system from the cage by using wood to block the door, with a circle cut to allow a tube to fit. He connected the "door" using bungee cords.

Won't work with the FN in particular, although I've seen it done with the taller Super Pet-type cages with some neat results. As for the FN not being study enough... I wouldn't worry about that! Just start heading back through this "ferret cages/rooms" section and I'm sure there are a couple threads about connecting them. There's also one somewhere about building a new side panel to include a tube to a remote litter box (ETA: probably the "remote litter box" thread, observant me ).

I'm going to be doing this too, rather than add a third level Im just attaching two FN 142's together by taking the sides off. This way no expensive cages are ruined and you can always put them back together and have two seperate cages if you need to. I would love for someone with the double cage to chime in because I have lotsa questions about bedding and litter boxes with a cage that big!
