What nice ferret friendly things do you use to mop your floors? I just recently bought a house and my swiffer just isn't cutting it. My floors feel kinda... slimy. ^^;

When I did have to mop, I just used a regular sponge mop with a vinegar and water solution. Vinegar is a great astringent so there's none of the slimy feel like there is with most cleaning solutions. Plus vinegar is very safe so there's no need to worry about any of the chemicals in the cleaning solution getting into your pets' systems.

I too use just vinegar and water. A drop of Dawn in the solution gives a little oomph for cutting through greasy stuff.

I've noticed the same "sliminess" with the Swiffer... I'm thinking of trying to refill the cleaner bottle with my own stuff once it runs out.

I refuse to use a sponge mop, or a swiffer! I clean houses for a living. Get yourself a mop that can be screwed on and off the handle, and that you can toss into the wash, and hung to dry. Use hot water, and vinegar. Works like a charm, no matter the floor!

I will go with the consensus and get ahold of some vinegar. Thanks!

Like Sherry, my mother and I ran a house cleaning business for a number of years and we found that the Libman mops were the way to go. The mop head can go in the washing machine and the dryer too. They last for a long time too. We replaced ours about once a year and that was being machine washed and dried 5 times a week which won't happen when being used in just a single household.
