my smallest fuzzy is a bit of a clepto. her latest and greatest thing to steal is bigger than she is...DVD cases. is it safe for her to be left alone with them?
also would a cat scratching post be a good idea for them? the same ferret loves to scratch things, she doesnt dig, just scratches when her nails get a little long or if she is bored.
is it possible to place those black drainage tubes from home depot inside the fn 142 and if so...how?!? I've tried and tried but just cant seem to make them fit. if that wont work, can they walk up pvc pipe if its at an incline?
how on earth do i make a deep dig box, using a card board box and still keep the paper in?
would it be safe to let them play with some cat jingle ball toys zip tied together? tigger has been getting bored with her single bell balls. i figure if i connect them together for a while, it would make a brand new toy for her

First, here's a link to the enrichment section here: holisticferret.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=enricharticle Tons of good ideas in there For a cardboard box dig box, try to get a box about 2 1/2-3' deep, cut a hole about 4-6 inches up from the bottom, and push a 4" plumbing elbow in, with the hole up, or a 10-12 inch length of 4" pvc pipe going straight in. As for pvc in the cage, you can, but it needs to be the ribbed type so they can get a grip walking/climbing in it. If you can get the type with drainage holes along the sides, so much the better, for air circulation, because when it's warm out, the tubing can get hot. Mine love climbing the cat post, but they won't scratch at it. Only the carpet outside the doors Not sure about the jingle balls zip tied together. As long as they can't get the zip ties to bite/chew on, I don't see why not. They wouldn't be any more likely to get a claw stuck in that than a normal jingle toy. I'm assuming you mean in a long line together? Or in a jumble ball type? I think I'd keep the dvd cases up, though. They tend to crack easily(at least the cheap ones I buy do . If the crack is big enough, they could get a toe caught.

This is a pic of my Lady "B" using the cat's scratching pole, they also use the horizontal "hyper ball" scratching pad as well . They love to climb on the poles like sherrylynne pointed out I don't use cages so I can't help you there, but what sherrylynne has pointed out makes perfect sense. I"m planning on setting up a wall maze for my guys and I'm thinking of using a series of boxes with the one side cut out and a plexi or wire side installed and the black drainage tube (the stuff with the holes) but the flexi stuff as tunnels to let them add a new dimension to their room ciao

thanks guys. I figured dvd cases were a no no, but in hopes of being wrong I thought I would ask anyway.
I just made the giant jingle ball and much to my surprise, my boy is playing with it.
Now that I know I can use zip ties, since I cant even get them off without a knife, I have some other awesome, inexpensive toy ideas. For christmas I am going to buy some thin pvc, cut it into small sections. poke holes through each end and zip tie a jingle ball onto each end of the pvc. My one girl loves barbells, but isnt very interested in balls, maybe it would be a good compromise for her. thanks for your help guys!
